It is aimed at building intellectual capability of JBIMS student fraternity and its close link with the corporate world. The week consists of Strategym – JBIMS' annual business convention, Marketing Maestro – JBIMS' entrepreneurial event, Samanvay – JBIMS' annual corporate symposium and Prayaag – JBIMS' annual inter B-school corporate festival.
Strategym is a platform for the students of JBIMS to apply their knowledge and business acumen to find solutions to contemporary management issues. Some of the papers presented in the past have been adopted by renowned corporations like LIC, UTV & Birla Sun Life Insurance. Strategym 2008 will be held on October 20-21 at ITC Grand Maratha, Mumbai. Continuing with the tradition of raising the bar each year, this year will see an array of papers from diverse sectors. Among the 8 finalist selected from the elimination round, papers like Social Security in India & Weather Derivates aim to introduce new concepts in India while papers like Economic Foot printing & Diagnosing Corporate Sickness aim to provide newer method to analyze a company. Papers like Reorganizing Indian Retail, Indian Railways, Home Equity Liquidation and Connecting Bharat suggests improving and leveraging on the already present infrastructure. Strategym 2008 is expected to be a truly enriching journey for everyone involved.
Marketing Maestro, the entrepreneurial event of JBIMS will be held on October 22, aims to test the strategizing and exploring skills of students. The event will be judged by Mr. Arun Sehgal, the man behind Winning Edge, an organization spread across 7 countries. The game would require the participants to set up a trading enterprise with a unique & innovative team name. It is expected to be a "Funtrepreneurial Adventure" for everyone.
Samanvay which was incepted last year has been successful in bridging the gap between the corporate world and the student fraternity right from the first year. Last year saw the likes of Dr. J.J Irani, ED, Tata Sons, Mr. Sanjay Nayar, CEO, Citigroup India, Mr. Ravi Mohan, MD, Standard and Poor's South and South East Asia gracing the occasion. The theme for Samanvay 2008 is "Hope: In Today's age of turbulence". It will be held at the BSE Convention centre on 23rd October. This year will witness stalwarts like Mr. Arun Maira, Director, Boston Consulting Group, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Partner, Rare Enterprises, Mr. Sameer Sain, CEO and MD, Future Capital Holdings and Mr. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, CEO, Reliance Money interacting with the students. Samanvay 2008 will be not only a very informative, but also a very interesting symposium for the future business leaders by the current business leaders.
The week concludes with Prayaag where students from renowned B-Schools and corporate lock horns amongst themselves. Prayaag 08 will be held on October 24-26, and the theme for this year is "Athena: The Greek Goddess of strategic warfare and heroic endeavor". It will consists of 16 different events spread over 3 days which will tests the art, wisdom, skills, knowledge, business acumen and application of participants in a very interesting and engaging manner. "The Quest to reach Olympus" is the flagship event and will test the participants in a multi-faceted manner. Tata Kwizkraft is yet another event which has evoked tremendous interest among the student fraternity. With the involvement of organization like the Tata group, corporate as participants and quiz to be hosted by Mr. Dhananjay Shettigar, Kwizkraft is expected to be a clincher of an event. Other events like Hermes' Vision, Demeter, Athena's Scroll, Titanomachia, etc will add on to the fun and will be a test of specifics. With an expected footfall of 5000 and a range of events lined up, Prayaag 08 will be a fun filled and intellectual experience.
