IIM Indore: Average salary jumps by 45% at Placements 2007

The placement season at the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) that kicked off on 27 February, ended on a high note.

According to IIM-I’s news release, the average salary offered has increased by 45% ­-- touching Rs 12 lakh per annum. In all, 329 offers including 12 international ones, were made to 115 students. This year, 67 companies visited the campus out of which 29 were first-timers. The highest international pay package was US$ 67,000 per annum; the highest domestic package was Rs.18 lakh per annum. 

Obviously, officials and students at IIM Indore are happy a lot. Speaking to MBAUnivese.com, Mohit Singhvi, secretary, placement committee, IIM-I, said, “We have been able to achieve a landmark in our placement history. Every student got a placement he or she wanted.” 

The placement report shared by IIM Indore with MBAUnivese.com indicates that companies from all major sectors were present: 32% offers came from the banking and finance sector; 25% from consultancy; 21% from IT. 

The banking and financial sector witnessed the participation of MNC majors as well as specialized financial services companies. Job profiles ranged from private equity, asset management and treasury to real estate valuation and venture funding. Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, HSBC, Citigroup, Standard Chartered, JP Morgan, SBI, UTI and YES Bank were key recruiters. 

The consultancy sector was represented by McKinsey, Accenture Business Consulting, KPMG, Stern Stewart & Co, Deloitte Consulting, Aptivaa Consulting, Price-Waterhouse Coopers, SAP Labs. According to IIM-I’s placement report, that is a “clear indication of exceptional talent acknowledged by the presence of big names”. Job profiles ranged from general and strategic consulting to financial consulting. 

The IT/ITeS sector was represented by from SAP, Oracle, CapGemini, HeadStrong, Cognizant, IBM, Tech Mahindra and Covansys and Infosys. The marketing space too saw offers ranging from the conventional FMCG companies to retail, foods and apparel, and media and entertainment. First-timer Alghanim Industries offered international retail and sourcing job profiles. Colgate Palmolive, Asian Paints, ITC, Reliance, Dabur, and Astro MEASAT were other recruiters. 

As IIM Indore celebrates 10 years of its establishment, Placement 2007 has been one more feather in its cap!
