NMAT is NMIMS's separate entrance exam known as National Management Aptitude Test. The NMAT will be held on December 28, 2008 for NMIMS's two-year full-time MBA program starting 2009.
The number of seats at NMIMS for two year MBA programmes may increase by 120 in year 2009. According to NMIMS, "The total number of admissions expected in 2009 in the Flagship MBA programme is 360 which were 240 earlier."
The NMAT test paper is designed on multiple-choice answers format that include Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation.
NMIMS also announced that, "The MBA Focus Programmes of the School of Business Management in Actuarial Science, Banking, Capital Markets, Global Business, Retail Management and Services Management are being restructured and merged with the Flagship MBA Programme from 2009-11."
"All students joining the MBA Programme in 2009 will have the option to take functional specialization elective courses and at the same time have option of domain focus in areas such as actuarial science, banking, capital markets, global business, retail and services in the second year of the MBA Programme", added NMIMS.
According to NMIMS, graduates of any branch of study or equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU with minimum 50% marks are eligible for the test. NMIMS says that prior work experience will be preferred.
Students will get admission if they meet the required standards of a two-stage selection. According to NMIMS, all eligible candidates are required to appear for NMAT to be conducted across the country. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Group Discussion/ computer-based test /Presentation & Personal Interview at selected centers.
The closing date for online applications for NMIMS MBA Programme is November 10, 2008.
