NMAT, popularly known as National Management Aptitude Test, the exam for Mumbai based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies will be held on December 28.

To continue the special series on various MBA entrance exams, MBAUniverse.com presents expert advice and tips on NMAT 08.

The NMAT test paper is designed on multiple-choice answers format that include Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation.

Last year, NMAT had three sections-

(a) Language Skills with 40 questions

(b) Quantitative Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, with 60 questions

(c) Intelligence & Logical Reasoning with 50 questions.

The three sections together had 150 questions to be attempted in 120 minutes. There was a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

While analyzing NMAT 07, IMS Learning says, "The paper was easy--an attempt of 105-110 questions with reasonably high accuracy levels was sufficient for a GD/PI call."

What do experts expect from N MAT 09?

According to IMS Learning, "The structure of the test will be similar to NMAT last year (mentioned in their website). It will be more a test of speed and the difficulty level will be significantly lower compared to that of the CAT/JMET."

Mr S Mitra of PT Education expects, "There is not too much of a deviation expected from last year. The NMAT paper will once again test the students' speed and accuracy!"

While giving the last minute advice to the students, experts asks students to solve atleast 100 questions. Mr Mitra said, "Refine your basics of calculations, arithmetic, percentages, square roots, mental mathematics, approximation techniques etc. Refresh your Wordlist / flash cards. Do not waste time on any one question during the test. Seek to attempt over 100 questions."

"Try responding to atleast 100 questions with sharp accuracy; do not form an opinion about the difficulty quotient of quant and verbal areas on the basis of their respective difficulty level in the CAT", advices IMS Learning.
