SIBM completes Placement 2007 in 6 hours flat

At Pune’s Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Placements 2007 has brought smiles all around.

According to SIBM’s placement release, the entire batch of 143 students was placed in a matter of 6 hours; 210 offers were received. Olam International made the highest international offer at $85,000 per annum, while the highest domestic offer was Rs. 10.5 lakh per annum by Dell International and Infosys Technologies. Average salary stood at Rs. 8.7 lakh per annum, while median compensation stood at Rs 8 lakh per annum.

Recruiters at SIBM came from varied sectors: FMCG, banking & financial services, consulting, IT & ITeS, manufacturing and automobile, consumer durables, retail, media and advertising. In all, 79 companies participated, which included ‘regulars’ like Marico, GSK Consumer Healthcare, ITC, J.P. Morgan Services, Godrej Industries, Dabur India, Asian Paints, Intel, Wipro and Infosys Technologies. Olam International made 6 offers, for positions in Dubai, Singapore, China and Central Africa.

This year, new recruiters like Sony Gulf, the Singapore-based Kaybee Group, Bharti Airtel, Deloitte, HSBC, Morgan Stanley Advantage Services, Dell International, Fidelity Business Services, United Spirits and Reliance Industries (Retail Business) added to the offers at SIBM.

According to SIBM, the banking and financial sector made 58 offers, with the highest number of offers coming from ICICI Bank, followed by J P Morgan Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HSBC. The IT sector pitched in with the highest number of offers: 78. In this sector, Wipro led the charge with 15 offers, closely followed by Infosys at 14, Cognizant Technology Solutions at 11 and IBM at 9.

FMCG firms continued their strong relationship with SIBM, with ITC, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Dabur India, Marico, and Perfetti Van Melle recruiting yet again; Agrotech Foods and United Spirits were first-time recruiters.

In the manufacturing and automobile sector, 16 offers were made by companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, BPCL, Godrej & Boyce, Eicher Motors, Tata Motors, Maruti and Goodyear.
