The current economic slowdown is not impacting the management education space just yet. Several quality B-schools are going ahead with launch of their new campuses this year.

Comibatore based Amrita School of Business (ASB) has announced the commencement of its three new campuses at Amritapuri, Bangalore and Cochin. ASB, part of Amirta Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, has been running its campus in Coimbatore since 1996. The new campuses will be operational from June 2009.

ASB has decided to differentiate each of its new campuses. Sharing information with MBAUniverse.com, Former faculty member of MDI Gurgaon and now Dean of ASB Dr. Sanjay Banerji, said, "To bring in a clear diversity in its last-mile reach, AMRITA has consciously decided to provide a different flavor at each of its new campuses. The Amritapuri and Kochi campuses will have a predominant emphasis on Social Enterprise while the Bangalore campus will be focused on the management of Information Technology. The flagship campus will continue its thrust on General Management."

The MBA admission process for these new campuses is already on. The number of seats available for the fully residential 2-year MBA Programme at the new campuses at Amritapuri, Bangalore and Kochi are 60 each and at the flagship campus Coimbatore it is 120.

The new campus in Bangalore will provide an international Masters Dual-Degree Management programme called "MBA-MS". The "MBA-MS" will be a joint collaborative programme with The School of Management at University at Buffalo, New York. The emphasis of the "MBA-MS" at Bangalore will be Management of Information Technology.

The campuses at Amritapuri and Kochi will provide MBA Degree. The domain areas covered at Amritapuri will be Retailing, Micro Enterprises, Hospitality Management, and Managing Not-for-Profits. Domain areas specific to Kochi campus will be Retailing, Health Care Management, Insurance Management, Media and Entertainment Management.

The students will be short-listed to ASB- Bangalore and Coimbatore through CAT scores or GMAT for foreign students. For admissions at Amritapuri and Kochi Campuses, test scores of MAT, as well as CAT scores will be accepted. Candidates who are short-listed will be called for a personal interview. According to information provided by ASB, last date of application process is February 28, 2009. The interviews are likely to be held in the third week of March, and the results would be declared towards the end of March. The programme will commence from mid June 2009.

What sets ASB apart? Says, Dr Banerji, "The Amrita MBA offers an excellent proposition by combining the best in management education with an appreciation for universal values. Students gain state-of-the-art knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges and rigors of today's competitive world; combined with a deep appreciation of universal values essential for sustained growth of business."
