IIM Calcutta launches faculty development programme in Entrepreneurship

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, in association with the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), has launched a new Faculty Development Programme.

The programme is positioning it to be the largest ever non-governmental entrepreneurship faculty development program in the country. The foundation course started from January 12 which will continue till January 16 at IIMC campus. The first batch comprises of 60 participants from about 32 colleges across the eastern part of India.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) of IIMC has developed a significant part of this programme's content. The course involves 2 cases, one of them being developed by CEI of IIMC. Two in-house faculty members from NEN along with Professor B. B. Phani of IIT Kanpur and Professor Anjan Raichaudhuri of IIM Calcutta are involved in managing the total session.

Says IIM C, "Throughout history entrepreneurs have transformed society by generating innovative ideas and implementing them pragmatically. CEI at IIMC is an initiative to achieve greater understanding of this process as well as stimulate its development for societal benefit. CEI's vision is to be acknowledged as a programme of international renown, where students, faculty, alumni, industry and policy makers collaborate, learn and innovate." CEI utilizes a Core Faculty Team, which brings multi-disciplinary skills and expertise to create a great team to educate, research and develop Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The team comprises of faculty from different functional areas and disciplines.

 The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) is a network of around 500 academic institutions across India performing research and developing and delivering world-class education, skill-building programs, networking activities and company-starting assistance to new, high-growth entrepreneurs. IIMC happens to be the lead partner of NEN in the eastern region.
