CAT 100 percentiler Pavneet Singh, IIT-D graduate and business executive Poonam, IIT D's P Kumar and telecom consultant Abhinav Gupta of Netaji --- shared their strategies and mantras on belling the Common Admission Test (CAT) 08.

The CAT 08 was held on November 16 and the result was released on January 09, 2009. MBAUniverse.com spoke to these CAT toppers and asked how they prepared, practiced and finally reached on the top.

Amey S Mashlikar, final year B.Tech (IT) student of Mumbai based Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) scored 99.14 percentile in CAT 08. As a result, he has received Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PIs) calls from six Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) -- IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow and Kozhikode.

"Focus on basics, and practice hard," says CAT 100 percentiler Debanjan Dey

Debanjan Dey, a senior engineering undergraduate (Computer Science) of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, New Delhi scored a perfect 100 percentile in CAT 2008. Debanjan scored 246 out of 356. As a result, he has received Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PIs) calls from six Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) -- IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow and Kozhikode.

Twenty two years old, Pavneet Singh Guliyani, a final year engineering student of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh is amongst the elite few who have got 100 percentile in CAT 2008. Pavneet has scored an amazing score of 215 out of 356, thus making him a CAT 100 percentiler. As a result, he has got Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PIs) calls from six Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) -- IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow and Kozhikode. Pavneet hails from a middle class family from Mohali, where his father is a retail shopkeeper. He has been a student of PT Education in Chandigarh.

Poonam, a graduated from IIT Delhi with five years of work experience at BHEL and Evalueserve, represents the new class of MBA Aspirants who have good academic background and have requisite work-experience to make the best use of MBA ducation. Poonam did well in CAT 08 to secure a call from IIM Lucknow, which is putting more emphasis on candidates with work experience.

After getting calls from four IIMs, Abhinav is on top of the world. Abhinav graduated from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in 2006. He is currently working with Objective Systems Integrators Inc, as Services Consultant in the Telecom-OSS domain.
Prior to this, he worked with Agilent Technologies as software engineer. His hobbies include playing basketball, watching movies and hitting the gym!
