IIM Bangalore’s Placement 2007 concluded two days before the official end of the placement season – that’s because IIM-B’s entire batch of 233 MBA students got placed even before placement within 5 days!

Close to 90 companies visited the campus during the Final Recruitments Week. According to IIM-B, about 40% of the batch received offers from leading slot zero investment banking, consulting and private equity (PE) sectors. The placement process kicked off on March 6th, and ended on March 10.

Top consulting names like McKinsey, BCG, AT Kearney, Bain & Co., Arthur D. Little, Ernst & Young, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Accenture and Diamond Consulting recruited from the campus. While speaking with MBAUniverse.com Placement chairman at IIM B Prof Sourav Mukherji said: “We have an increasing number of consulting firms visiting us… Some of our regular visitors included BCG and McKinsey, who made more offers in comparison to last year.”

Noting the key trend IIM Banglore news release says, “With several investment banks making a large number of offers at IIM-B, the institute has clearly emerged as the preferred talent source for investment banks.” Wall Street majors like Lehman Brothers, Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch made a beeline for IIM-B, picking up students for their advisory, fixed income/equity research, credit derivatives structuring and interest rate/forex trading desks.

McKinsey & Co., The Boston Consulting Group, Bloomberg, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Procter & Gamble, Cognizant, Microsoft, IBM, GE, ICICI Bank, Citigroup, Standard Chartered, Unilever and Tata Administrative Services emerged as the top recruiters during the 2006-07 recruiting season. In addition to these companies, new overseas recruiters like Arthur D. Little, Al Ghanim Industries, CiC International and Development Bank of Singapore were also present on the campus.

Prof Mukherji said, “There were many companies who are keen to visit our campus for placements but as all our students were placed before the scheduled time, we could not let them visit us.”

According to IIM-B’s news release, the ‘international’ locations where students have got postings include New York, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, Dubai, the West Indies and Kuwait. The graduates of IIM-B celebrated their success during a ‘post-placement’ party, which was organized the day recruitments ended. Good way to end Placements 2007!
