A team of academicians from the US have come together to launch the National Management School on the lines of ISB Hyderabad and Chennai based Great Lakes.

Set up at a capital outlay of Rs. 3 crores in Chennai, this new B-School will offer admissions to the first batch of MBA students in June 2009, offering full time 2-year Postgraduate Program in Management in collaboration with the Georgia State University. National Management School informed MBAUniverse.com that it will admit students in three admission cycles every year, and is supported by both corporate and leading academicians.  

The B-school is founded by a team of professors and spear-headed by Dr. Sankaran P. Raghunathan, Dean, National Management School, who is a Professor of International Business, formerly with Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey and at Emory University.   The Board of Governors includes Prof. P.V. Indiresan, Former Director, IIT Madras, Fr. P.D. Thomas, Former Director, XLRI, Dr. R.K. Raghavan, Former Director, CBI, and Dr. V. Kumar, Professor of Marketing, Georgia State University.

The academic advisory board is led by Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, Professor of Marketing, Emory University and boasts a wide cross section of academicians. Dr. Avijit Ghosh, Vice President, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Dr. Usha Nair-Reichert, Professor of Economics, Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Ram S. Sriram, Professor of Accounting, Georgia State University, Dr. Thomas Allen, Professor Emeritus, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Patricia G. Greene, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Babson College, and Dr. Rajan Chandran, Vice Dean, Fox School of Business, Temple University are on the advisory board of National Business School.

The Business Advisory Group is chaired by Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council.
 
The National Management School campus is coming up at Ambattur, Chennai in a corporate building.  The facility over a 50,000 sq.ft. area. The School will take in 120 students for the term beginning June 2009, and 60 each in October 09, and January '10.

Dr. Sankaran P. Raghunathan, Dean of National Management School, told MBAUniverse.com, "The National Management School will set a new and much desired trend of Insourcing American education, with 100 Professors from the US who are PhDs, many of them chaired professors, and will create the foundation for a complete global management education." This will be complimented by mentoring by CXO panel comprising over 75 Indian C level executives, informs National Management School.

National Management School will stress on global learning. Besides the benefit of international academic expertise and the corporate experience, the students will have global exposure, as they will be required to select two countries of choice, as part of their curriculum to not only become familiar with the business customs and practices specific to these countries, but also understand how business is uniquely done in those countries.

The School will take in 120 students for the term beginning June 2009, and 60 each in October '09, and January '10. The Assistant Dean, Ms. Sundari, said, "We are seeking to admit students whose aspirations are high and whose achievements demonstrate such aspirations.  We are looking for candidates who are in the top ten percentile based on the CAT/XAT exams or the GMAT.  However, our admission is based on a complete profile of the applicant.  While academic brilliance is important, we believe that active participation in performing arts or sports or demonstrated leadership in activities, adds to a complete profile".  

The two year full time academic program comprising 720 hours of class room work with 36 courses over 2 years comes at a cost of Rs. 9.6 lacs, informs National Management School.
