HEC Paris has inaugurated the first class of the HEC Executive MBA, Russia in cooperation with the Graduate School of Management (GSOM) of Saint Petersburg State University on January 16, 2009.

The program is designed for the business leaders and managers, and is a key component of HEC Paris Executive Education's ongoing international development.  Present in China since 2006, HEC now has a presence in Russia, where it will deliver the EMBA in one of the country's foremost universities. Founded in 1724, St Petersburg State University started up its School of Management in 1993 to train Russian business leaders.

The main goal of the HEC EMBA in Saint Petersburg is to provide participants with the tools to run their teams successfully against an international backdrop of fast-changing economic trends. Firmly focused on the decision-maker, the courses aim to develop the following themes: strategic marketing, operations management, corporate finance, competitive business strategy, corporate strategy, leadership and change management, and technology and innovation management.

This first class will graduate in May 2010 and includes participants from Russia, France, Ukraine and the USA, with an average age of 37.  They hold senior managerial positions, with an eye towards moving to a general management position.  Most of them work for groups with a headcount of over 2,000, in a variety of complementary sectors (pharmaceuticals, industrial production, new technologies, transport, finance, and the public sector)..  Leading international brands such as Pfizer, Auchan, Eurocopter, ADP and SEB are among the companies represented in the program.

This program is international in outlook and is built on the foundation of the Executive MBA; it is conducted for 4 to 5 days a week over a total period of 16 months.  Participants benefit from extensive international exposure, with 8 modules in Saint Petersburg, 2 modules in Paris, and 3 study trips to the USA, Belgium and Asia.

The courses are delivered by both HEC Paris and GSOM faculty.  All teaching and projects accomplished by the participants are carried out in English.

Participants who successfully complete this program will be awarded an Executive Masters of Business Administration in the form of two diplomas: one issued by HEC Paris and the other by GSOM, St Petersburg State University.
