Welingkar starts PGDM E-Biz program at newly launched Bengaluru campus
 
After strengthening its reputation at Mumbai campus, now Welingkar Education has launched a new 'We School' campus in Bengaluru, the IT capital of India.
 
There are 60 seats allotted to the 2-year PGDM E-Biz program at both campuses. The last date to purchase the application forms is March 14, and the last date for the submission of the same is March 17, 2009.
The selection process begins with candidates being shortlisted based on CAT (Nov 2008) / XAT (Jan 2009) / MH-CET (Feb 2009) and / ATMA (Feb 2009) scores, Academic Performance, Work Experience, Extra Curricular Activities and the details provided in the Application Form. This is followed by Group Discussions, Interviews and Psychometric Test. Admissions are based purely on merit.
 
The total academic fee for the PGDM E-Biz program is Rs1,75000/ per annum. The classes will be commenced in mid-June 2009.
 
While briefing on the program, Welingkar says, “We School has launched PGDM E-Biz program at both the campuses, Mumbai and Bengaluru. This is the only management program on e-Business. The 2-year full time management program recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) comprehensively covers various core knowledge subjects in general management areas such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Operations. This provides the students with the fundamental foundations to manage any business.”

SP Jain launches India MBA with Canada's Schulich B-school
 
SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai, in collaboration with Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, Canada, has launched Schulich India MBA program on February 12, 2009.
 
The applications will be accepted for this 2-year MBA program upto October 15, 2009. The late applications will be accepted only after considering the availability of seats after the last date of submission. The program will begin in January 2010.
 
Students who have completed their graduation (3-year degree) with minimum 60% (1st Div) aggregate marks in any stream are eligible to apply for the program. The admission is strictly based on Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Along with academic qualifications, candidates must have 2-years full-time work experience after their graduation.
 
SPJIMR says, “Along with experience and academic performance, there are some more elements help in selecting students like leadership potential, entrepreneurial experience, communication skills, creativity, involvement in community and extracurricular activities.”
 
Students enrolled in the program will complete the first year of the Schulich India MBA at SPJIMR in Mumbai and the second year at the Schulich School of Business, Canada.

Financial aid is available both at entrance and during the program. IMT’s new campus in Hyderabad to offer PGDM
 
After Ghaziabad, Dubai and Nagpur, Institute of Management Technology (IMT) is now going to open its fourth campus in Hyderabad.
Confirming the development with MBAUniverse.com, Dr AM Sherry, Chairman, Joint Admission Committee, IMT said, “IMT is opening its new campus in Hyderabad. The new campus will offer two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and the academic session will start in year 2010.”
 
“We are opening the new campus in Hyderabad because this city is well poised as the ‘corporate hub’. There is a huge scope and opportunities for students to explore,” added Dr Sherry.
 
On the batch size and the selection process of the new campus, Dr Sherry shared, “The first intake of PGDM for the Hyderabad campus is 120. The students will be selected on the basis of Common Admission Test only.”
 
The admission fee of the PGDM for new campus is not yet decided.
 
Dr BS Sahay, Director, IMT Ghaziabad shared, “This will be a 30 acre campus and we are under process of finalizing a few things.”
 
Founded in year 1980, IMT offers its full time and part time management education programs in Ghaziabad, Dubai, Nagpur. IMT-Centre for Distance Learning is launched to offer distance learning programs in management.

NMS Chennai in collaboration with Georgia State University offers PG program in management
 
The National Management School (NMS) will open doors to MBA aspirants for the academic year June 2009. The full time 2-year Postgraduate Program in Management is offered in collaboration with the Georgia State University. The diploma will be co-signed by the Deans of both the National Management School and the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at the Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA.
 
The School will take in 120 students for the term beginning June 2009, and 60 each in October 2009 and January 2010. The Assistant Dean, Ms.Sundari, said, “We are seeking to admit students whose aspirations are high and whose achievements demonstrate such aspirations. We are looking for candidates who are in the top ten percentile based on the CAT/XAT exams or the GMAT. However, our admission is based on a complete profile of the applicant. While academic brilliance is important, we believe that active participation in performing arts or sports or demonstrated leadership in activities, adds to a complete profile.”

The two-year full time academic program comprising 720 hours of class room work with 36 courses over 2 years. The academic fee is Rs 4.8 lacs per annum.
 
Commenting on the benefits of the collaboration with an international university, Dr Sankaran P Raghunathan, NMS Dean, said, “Besides the benefit of international academic expertise and the corporate experience, the students will have global exposure, as they will be required to select two countries of choice, as part of their curriculum to not only become familiar with the business customs and practices specific to these countries, but also understand how business is uniquely done in those countries. This will enrich them with the real-time experience of acquiring global exposure.”
 
He further said, “The launch marks the coming together of the academic and corporate worlds across the Globe to mentor the intellectual power of India. And in its own way, it will contribute to reversing the brain drain both at the student level and at the academic level by providing opportunities for Indian Scholars to work closely with American universities from Indian shores.”

GBU offers MBA in HR, IT, Finance, Retail...more
 
Gautam Buddha University (GBU), Greater Noida, has invited applications for the MBA (Session 2009-10) with specialization in Finance, Marketing, IT, Retail, Operations, Strategy, Insurance, etc.
 
The University offers 120 seats to the MBA program. The last date for the submission of application forms is March 5, 2009. The admission is strictly based on the GBU's own entrance exam Graduate Proficiency Test (GPT) to be held on April 5, 2009.
 
Candidates who have passed their graduation from a recognized university securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the MBA program. The fee for the course is Rs 2,50,000 per academic session.
 
The GPT will be conducted at five centres across the country, which will be followed by a personal interview. These centres will be based in Noida, Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi and Bangalore.
 
While talking to MBAUniverse.com on future of management education in the country, Prof. R.S. Nirjar, Vice Chancellor of GBU, said, “We are starting management school first because there is a great demand of quality managers in India. When we see the admission trends at IIMs, there are over 200,000 candidates appear in the exam every year, and from that score around 1500 candidates are admitted. There is also a strong demand for talent coming from good management institutes. The salaries are rising. So, it means if they can impart good education, then there will be great demand for it.”

G D Goenka in Collaboration with Lancaster University to offer Global MBA
 
The G D Goenka World Institute (GDGWI) in collaboration with UK’s Lancaster University will be offering Global MBA program from January 2010.
 
According to GDGWI, the program will draw on the strengths of the Management School and provide a multi-disciplinary introduction to the principles, problems and techniques of management. On completion of the program, graduates will be able to use management techniques drawn from specialist disciplines, such as accountancy, new venture planning, economics, finance, marketing and HR. They will understand the nature of management, the complexity of organisations and how to manage change.
“The program has been designed to meet the needs of graduates who normally do not have a business/ management background and who wish to develop skills in the full range of management disciplines. We expect students from a wide range of subject backgrounds to find this program of value to them,” says GDGWI.
