The 9-city MBA seminar, fair & counseling event – Management Avenues 2009 – a joint initiative of MBAUniverse.com and Dainik Jagran’s iNext newspaper completed the third edition in Allahabad and Varanasi.

The event was held on March 21–22, 2009 in Allahabad and Varanasi respectively. The event was addressed by eminent personalities including management gurus, CAT experts and students from Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), who addressed the dilemmas of MBA aspirants. The event received massive response with over 550 keen MBA aspirants in Allahabad and over 600 MBA aspirants in Varanasi participating in the seminar and fair.
 
Dignitaries who spoke at the seminar include Prof MM Pant, former faculty at IIT Kanpur and University of Western Ontario, Canada; Prof Nageshwar Rao, VC, Rajshri Tandon Open University, Allahabad; Dr Geetika, Professor, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad; Dr Abhijeet Singh, Lecturer, Faculty of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University (FMS-BHU), Varanasi; Dr Alok Rai, Reader, FMS-BHU; and Mr Anupam Raghuvanshi, Director, T.I.M.E., Varanasi.
 
One of the highlights of the seminar was discussions by students from IIMs, MDI, and IIFT. Nagendra, IIM Lucknow; Purav, Management Development Institute, Guragon; Raveesh Bhatnagar and Yash Saxena, MBA (IB) students of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi shared their MBA experience and answered dilemmas faced by aspirants.
 
Prof Pant said, “Youth are fortunate to be living in the era of plenty of opportunities and choices about their career and education. However, these choices come with some confusion and responsibility. Students keen on management education should be active learners and ask the right questions. They should enroll into an institute that fits with their passion and aspirations.”
 
Talking about the relevance of management education in recession times, Prof Pant advised the students: “Think for the long term! Indian economy will recover in next few years and by that time your MBA will be a good asset.”
 
Dr Geetika said, “Management education offers exposure to all domains relevant for creating and managing a business. It enables you to respond to the changing work environment. MBA helps in gaining employability. So, MBA is the right programme, even in these tough times.”
 
While giving tips on selecting a management institute, Prof Rao said, “While choosing a management institute, MBA aspirants should not just look at the placements of the institute. They should think overall academic environment and infrastructure.”
