To provide lessons in management and business leadership, the newly launched business school SOIL (School of Inspired Leadership) Gurgaon has launched Leadership Programs in HR and Business in alliance with some of the top-notch companies.

These companies are ABB, Anand Group, Aditya Birla Group, Avantha Group, BPCL, Dr Reddy Lab, GSK, Hindustan Unilever, Kohler, Mahindra, Max, SAS, Schneider, SRF and Tata Steel.

The founder and CEO of SOIL, Mr. Anil Sachdev, who is also the Founder and CEO of Grow Talent Company Limited, says that the institute has a vision to create a platform for transformational leadership learning and business excellence relevant to the dynamics of the world.

The institute, created with the help of an industry consortium, is offering two full-time one year non residential programs - Human Resources Leadership and Business Leadership. SOIL's consortium spans over a wide range of industries IT, ITES, Infrastructure, Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Power & Energy, and FMCG.

Commenting on the idea of industry Consortium, SOIL says, “With the involvement of the Consortium members in the selection of students, curriculum design, mentoring and placements, there will be ample opportunities for placement.”

While speaking on the key features of the leadership programs, SOIL says, “The Leadership programs in HR, Business are designed to prepare students for a career in Human Resources, and Global Business. The key element of our Leadership programs is the Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Throughout the duration of the program, students will be assigned a mentor from the industry to help them shape and progress their learning around their current and future business roles and around their personal and career goals.”

The Leadership programs are comparable to regular two-year full time MBA programs offered by business schools across the world. Batch size for both programs is 60 students. The tentative date for both one-year programs is July 20, 2009, till July 9, 2010.

While commenting on the admission procedures, SOIL says, “The admission process uses the Caliper, a leadership profiling tool that provides insights into an individual's characteristics, potential and motivation, and to develop an objective perspective on an applicant's strengths and areas for development. It measures multiple intelligences such as empathy and creativity rather than the conventional GMAT or CAT, which focus on numerical and analytical ability. The Caliper Profile Test will be followed by a Talent Appreciation Process (TAP).  This would consist of a combination of role plays, creative thinking exercises and an interview. The interview panel will comprise of the leaders of the Consortium as well as senior members of SOIL.”

SOIL says on eligibility for the programs, “The candidates must hold at least a Bachelor degree in any discipline. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the Bachelor degree by May 30, 2009 can also apply. They need to share the supporting documents and certificates before the start of the program. Both fresh graduates and working professionals can apply to the HR Leadership Program. Executives with a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience can apply to the Business Leadership Program.”

“The curriculum is built around the model of 'Transformational Learning'.
This model is contemporary and forward-looking with a specific focus on
leadership development. This high quality curriculum has been designed in
partnership with academicians and leaders of the industry consortium.
Besides the traditional model that focuses on strategic management, human
resource management, economics. We will develop self awareness and mindfulness through a comprehensive program on wellness through yoga, meditation and healthy habits,” SOIL adds further.

SOIL says, commenting on quality education and global exposure, “We have tied up with overseas faculty from foreign universities to teach different courses for both the programs. Throughout the program, we supplement classroom learning by providing a set of experiences and explorations that will help you understand your own strengths and develop into an effective leader. Our students are exposed to cutting-edge thought and its applications, both in and out of the classroom, through a range of focused learning opportunities available through the school's leading network with the corporate world.”
