The Ranchi and Patna editions of the 9-city MBA seminar, fair & counseling event – Management Avenues 2009, an initiative of MBAUniverse.com and Dainik Jagran’s I Next newspaper, attracted over 1500 MBA aspirants in two cities.
The MBA seminar was addressed by management experts, corporate executives and students from top B-schools including Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs), and was held in Ranchi on March 28 and in Patna on March 29.
   
The full-day seminar covered a variety of questions commonly posed by MBA aspirants. The seminar speakers addressed the theme ‘MBA in times of slowdown’ in great detail, and assured MBA aspirants that a good MBA will serve them in good stead as the economy rebounds in next 2 years. The seminar also underscored the fact that Management education empowers the candidates to apply their positive attitude, skills and knowledge to not just businesses, but to also perform in sectors like NGOs and Rural sectors.
 
Some of the speakers at seminar include Dr SRP Shukla, Chief Executive, RMA -AIMA; Prof Shailendra Singh, Corporate trainer & Deputy Director of IIBM, and Mr Arun Sharma, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore alumnus, author & CAT expert.

MBA students from India’s top B-schools who addressed the seminar include Mr Pankaj Bhat of IIM Lucknow; Sudama Kumar Baraily of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata; Apurv Harsh of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata and Geetanjali Kirti of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. They talked to over 1500 keen aspirants on basics of an MBA programme, how to prepare for CAT 2009 and other MBA exams, and how to choose a right B-school.

Addressing the seminar Dr SRP Shukla said, “Business is by definition a cyclical industry. There are bound to be ups and downs in growth. While the current environment is not very positive, the long term growth of India and its economy is intact. A good MBA candidate will find a lot of takers in next few years as the economy rebounds. Even now, MBA can explore various options in sectors like Telecom, Education, Rural India, NGOs etc and gain skills.
The last editions of Management Avenues 2009 will be held at Dr BR Ambedkar University, Agra on April 4.
