Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida (BIMTECH) on May 30, 2009 commenced its 22nd academic programme. Addressing the gathering, Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, called on young leaders to work for sustainable development of India. He pointed out how a section of the society is still deprived of basic amenities and inspired the “would be managers” to think about the marginalised sections of the society.

Dr. Santrupt Mishra, Group Head (HR), Aditya Birla Group, who was the chief guest of the function, said, “It’s an irony that today the government as well as educational institutions and almost all sections of the society are focussing on certain specific streams of education. Time has come when business schools should take up this responsibility to fuel entrepreneurial spirit among its students.” He asked the students of BIMTECH to become “job-creators” instead of “job-seekers” and encouraged them to “think global”.

The students of the commencing batch also got a chance to interact with the CEO of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), Dr. Rajiv Kumar, who was the guest of honour on the occasion. While talking to the students, Dr. Kumar underlined the need of innovation in the various facets of modern management. He emphasised the need of revitalising the concept of management as a whole to bring “inclusion”.

On the first day itself, BIMTECH highlighted its zero tolerance policy towards ragging and reiterated that the institute views ragging as an uncivilised and inhumane practice. It also said that the institute has an anti-ragging committee under the chairmanship of the Dean and it keeps a constant vigil to take immediate action against any form of ragging.
