Summit will discuss the role and responsibilities of a business in current times

In the wake of global economic meltdown, the subject of business ethics, responsibile corporate behavior and contibution of business to society at large has come under intense scrutiny. To discuss the role and responsibilities of a business in current times, All India Management Association (AIMA) is organising the ‘2nd Business Responsibility Summit’ with the theme – ‘Purpose of the Corporation: Socialist, Capitalist or Both’. The summit will be held in New Delhi on July 17-18, 2009.
 
AIMA has shared with MBAUniverse.com that Mr Gurcharan Das, Author and Former Chairman, Proctor and Gamble will deliver the Keynote Address at the summit. Mr Salman Khursheed, State Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt of India is likely to be delivering the inaugural address of the summit. The first day of summit will have three sessions. The first session’s topic will be ‘Being Good While Doing Good: The Managers’ Challenge’ and the second session will be held on ‘Shaping Societal Values’. The topic of the third session will be ‘Regulation vis-à-vis Voluntary Action’.
 
The theme of the session on the day two will be ‘Reinventing Management Education’. Talking about this session on management education, AIMA says, “We live in turbulent times. And management education in such times has to focus on providing managers with concepts and tools for good corporate governance while producing more shareholder value also. What would be the core constituents of management education today? How are schools reshaping their approach to management education? Are business schools equipped to deliver the perfect manager?  Can ethics be taught?”
