The new executive MBA program at IIFT has been planned keeping in mind that finance drives all industries

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Delhi in an exclusive chat with MBAUniverse.com has unveiled its plans for a new course on Capital and Financial Markets. Speaking to MBAUniverse.com about the new course Dr. (Ms) Satinder Bhatia, Chairperson, Graduate studies, IIFT Delhi, said, “The program will be called Executive Diploma in Capital and Financial Markets. Finance drives all industries and the entire corporate world is now even more curious about the understanding of the financial markets. This is the reason why we have tried to bring out a specific course catering to the financial markets.”

The IIFT recently launched another Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Marketing program, for which the MBA institute will accept applications until July 2009. This executive MBA program will commence its study session from September 2009.

Bhatia told MBAUniverse.com that the key focus of the executive MBA program in Industrial Marketing is to provide focused curriculum, particularly for engineering graduates and others involved in the designing and manufacturing of industrial products. She said, “Industrial Marketing or Business to Business Marketing is a special field in itself. As the Indian market expands, and our own manufacturers eye big and long-term contracts as suppliers, focused inputs in this area have become an absolute necessity today.”

Talking further about the Industrial Marketing executive MBA program Bhatia said, “This course was conceptualized in December 2007 after discussions with L&T officials. The entire design of the executive MBA program was based on specific requirements of L&T, which mirrored such requirements of similar companies.”

When asked how the executive MBA program will help the candidates, Bhatia said, “It will help them hone their marketing skills when engaged in business to business marketing.  India’s manufacturing sector produces the finest products of world standard.  Production levels can go up immensely through industrial marketing as scales are very big.”

She further added that the candidates applying for the executive MBA program at IIFT are required to have a minimum of three years’ work experience after graduation. “The final selection will be based on their curiosity and maturity level in understanding industrial marketing arena,” she said and added key personality characteristics, such as ability to negotiate and strike ethical deals, will also be important while choosing a candidate.
