Commencements 2009: TAPMI kicks off new batch in its new campus with 120 students

T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) Manipal inducted a new batch of 120 students in the Post Graduate Diploma in Management program for the session 2009-11. TAPMI also introduced the new batch to the MBA program in a formal way through a week-long orientation program organized at the institute between July 6 and 11, 2009.

The induction program was presided over by Dr. HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University. The new batch of students got an opportunity to interact with UK Basu, Managing Director of MRPL, Laskhminarayanan, DGM (Human Resources), MRPL and Dr. H Shantaram, Trustee & Governing Council Member of  TAPMI.

“The induction program started with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome address by the new Director, Dr. Saji Gopinath. In his speech, Dr. Gopinath gave an insight into TAPMI’s philosophy, its life and the changes that have been incorporated in the recent months,” an official spokesperson of TAPMI said. He added that this year’s MBA program batch will start session in the institute’s brand new campus.

The induction program was followed by an address by Dr Ballal who fondly recalled the mission of Late T.M.A. Pai and Late T.A. Pai, “Illiteracy and Ill-Health have to be removed; then poverty will take care of itself”. He extolled their efforts towards the development of Manipal into an “Oxford of India”. As a message to the freshers, Dr. Ballal stressed upon the importance of co-curricular activities and exhorted the students to excel in each and every sphere of life.

The Chief Guest, UK Basu, enlightened the students with insights from his experiences at MRPL, Mangalore. He stressed on the importance of self management and self discipline in the life of students and emphasized the importance of communication skills, presentation skills as well as time management for climbing up the ladder of any organization.

The new students who joined the MBA program were also given a first-hand account about the ‘Life at TAPMI’ by an alumnus Amit Chugh who is also the Founder & CEO of Cosmos Ignite Innovations.
