MBA School SJMSOM IIT Bombay to hold 'Finance and Marketing Continuums 2009'

Management (SJMSOM) IIT Bombay, is organizing 'Finance and Marketing Continuums 2009' on July 18 and July 19, 2009. Continuum is a rolling seminar series that is organized every year by the students of the MBA School -- SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. Each Continuum brings together eminent speakers from the industry as well as the academia and focuses on issues and challenges faced by management functions.

The seminars will be attended by delegates from different organizations, distinguished alumni from SJMSOM IIT Bombay, and by students from various MBA schools in India. Continuum series also feature various competitions among students, like online quizzes and business games.

On the first day, the MBA School will hold the Finance Continuum 2009. “While most of the western economies were severely impacted by the recent crisis, it brought to fore the strengths of the Indian financial system. The question that now needs to be answered is how India should leverage this situation to its advantage and accelerate its growth and development,” SJMSOM IIT Bombay said. They said the Finance Continuum will explore the opportunities and challenges India faces in these changing times with its central theme being “Changing Global Financial Landscape: Opportunities and Challenges in India”.

The seminar is being organized with participation from industry bigwigs. A workshop by Angel broking on Derivatives will also be organized on the first day of the event. The speakers for the event include Kaustubh Kulkarni, Executive Director, JP Morgan Chase; Somak Ghosh, Head, Corporate Finance, Yes Bank; Ananda Bhoumik, Senior Director, Fitch Rating; Anup Bagchi, Executive Director ICICI Securities; Naveen Gupta, Head Private Bank Treasury, Standard Chartered Bank and Ajay Garg, Managing Director, Equirus.
The Marketing Continuum 2009 will be organized on the next day with the theme “New Age Marketing - Challenges and Strategies”.

Some of the speakers at the Marketing Continuum 2009 include Dr. (Mrs.) Pragnya Ram, Group Executive President, Corporate Communication, Aditya Birla Group; KV Sridhar, National Creative Director, Leo Burnett; Sudhanshu Vats, VP, HUL; Paritosh Joshi, President, Star India and Prasad Narasimhan, CMO, Virgin Mobile(India).

“The Marketing Continuum will present a broader picture of the marketing function and will throw light on some of the most popular and latest trends of marketing that are relevant to the present scenario. This will include discussions, lectures and business games covering a wide range of topics like relationship marketing, rural marketing, interactive marketing, experiential marketing & technology marketing,” SJMSOM IIT Bombay added.
