According to the MBA School, the new program will be a 15-month program for executives

Even with no visible signs of recession receding, Indian MBA schools are growing at an unprecedented speed. Some time back IIFT told MBAUniverse.com about their new executive management program, and now it is the Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB) Bhubaneshwar! In an exclusive chat with MBAUniverse.com, XIMB Director Fr. PT Joseph, S.J. said, “The XIMB is in the process of adding a new executive management program to its existing list of programs.”

XIMB is also offering more than 30 executive Development Management Programs (DMPs) in diverse rural and social areas. Some of these courses deal with disaster management; agriculture; strengthening civil society organizations; setting and promoting small, medium and micro enterprises/entrepreneurship; sustainable tribal development; and management of development induced displacement, resettlement & rehabilitation. “In recent times, there has been a growing demand on skill development and managerial proficiency. These programs, while giving a managerial perspective to the social and development sector, brings together the latest developmental changes and needs in the various areas of rural management,” Director of the MBA school said.

Explaining the need of new management programs in the changing world scenario, the XIMB Director said, “Our MBA School understands the needs of the market and hence we keep coming out with changes and additions. XIMB has already applied to the AICTE for starting the new 15-month Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM). We are hopeful that it will be launched by January 2011, after receiving the AICTE approval.”

Taking more about the new executive management program, Fr. PT Joseph, S.J. said, “The new executive management program will have two components: an 12-month on-campus full-time program for experienced corporate executives with at least 5 years of experience and an additional 3-month industry stint for industry exposure and industrial assignment. The new executive program is not an equivalent to an MBA, but has high value and utility for the experienced executives.” He added that the XIMB is hopeful that the AICTE will soon send its approval for the course.

The XIMB also offers AICTE approved Post Graduate Diploma in Management (part-time) program which is the equivalent of an executive MBA program. “This executive MBA program was started in 1993. It was the first holistic executive part-time MBA program in management from a MBA school in India in the three-year format,” an official spokesperson of XIMB said. It is aimed at working executives with at least three years work experience, the MBA School added.

“The course structure of the PGDM (part-time) has been revamped completely this year with six new core courses and 11 new electives. The focus of this three-year executive MBA program is to provide the candidates with hands-on knowledge of the business theories. These new courses inform the students of the emerging trends and present day challenges faced by managers and how they can resolve theses problems,” the Director of XIMB said.

In addition to the three-year part-time executive MBA program, the MBA School offers more than 30 Management Development Programs (MDPs) for corporate. Talking about the corporate management education programs, the MBA School’s Director said, “Some of these MDPs are conducted at the XIMB campus and some are held at the premises of the client organization. The duration of these programs vary from a day to about a couple of months, depending on organizational needs.”
