The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) has received good support for its Summer Placement 2007.

Institute director Dr S P Parashar offered the highlights of placements at IIM-I: “ Fifty eight companies have recruited graduates at IIM-I for Summer Placements this year.” He was speaking at the IIM-I’s convocation. One interesting trend has been the rise in stipend offered to students. The highest stipend was a respectable Rs 35,000 per month, while the average stipend was Rs 14,000 per month.

According to IIM-I, 95 companies registered their intent for Summer Placements and 30 companies visited the campus for the first time. Some of the first-timers included Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan, Horizon Asset Management, Colgate-Palmolive, Reckitt Benckiser, Dabur, Technopak Consultants, Jones Lang LaSalle, Astro, RPG, Essar and Murugappa Group.

There were a total of 247 offers made for the entire batch of 179 students. Summer Placements were completed in just 3 days.

IIM-I has also decided to relax final placement rules for those students keen to turn entrepreneur. Dr Parashar said, “In order to encourage entrepreneurship among our students, it has been decided from next year to allow an extra year for seeking placement through the institute to those students who choose to opt out in the current year to pursue an entrepreneurial career.”
