The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) have decided to tread cautiously on the Supreme Court’s judgment where yesterday it turned down Center’s plea to vacate its stay on reservations in admissions.

Speaking with MBAUniverse.com, IIMs have indicated that they will not release the final admission lists till they receive official word from the HRD ministry.

Speaking with MBAUniverse.com, IIM Bangalore Director Dr P G Apte said, "We are waiting for official communication and confirmation from government. We hope to get their clearance in next two or three days. Only then will we release our final admission list."

Several other IIMs have offered similar comments to other media on this issue.

MBAUniverse.com has learnt that Directors of the six IIMs are under a process of internal discussions and are likely to work towards a joint stand on the issue.

Commenting on the likely impact of this delay on the admission schedule and course timelines, Dr Apte said, "We hope that ministry would take the decision soon. If the decision on future course of action can be made in a few days, there will be no impact on the timeline of our programme. We can still run our courses on time.”

Next few days will be crucial for thousands of aspirants who are vying of about 1350 seats at the coveted IIMs.
