IIM B admission list names 330 candidates, includes extra 90 to “cover overlapping offers”

Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) has made 90 excess offers over available seats while released the admission list for PGP 2007-09 on Friday.

According to IIM-B, 330 candidates have been issued admission letters against the 240 seats currently available for PGP 2007-09 at IIM Bangalore. This includes 36 seats in the SC category, 18 seats in the ST category and 7 seats in the PWD categories.

The IIM-B admission announcement says, “The 90 excess offers over available seats are to cover overlapping offers made to some of these candidates by other IIMs.” IIM-B will send formal offers to all these 330 candidates.

According to IIM-B the last date for acceptance of the offer with first fee installment of Rs.50, 000 is May 14, 2007.

Waitlisted candidate can get information their waitlist rank within their category from the IIM-B admissions website using their test registration number and CAT Application Form numbers. Institute will made formal offers to them, in waitlist rank order, if seats in their respective category remain vacant after the due date of acceptances from the first list.

IIM-B has also clarified that for processing and preparing the short-list, all candidates in the OBC category are currently considered along with general category applicants as per the stay order on OBC reservation issued by the Honorable Supreme Court on March 28. Appropriate action would be undertaken in case there is any change in the legal position regarding OBC reservation before June 30, 2007.
