Even before the CAT 2010 results are declared, IIMs are making their admission criteria ready. IIM Kozhikode have already declared their admission criteria. So what are the parameters that the IIMs look for in a candidate? First and foremost, it is your CAT score, performance in Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability along with your educational and professional background.

Like IIM Lucknow, the admission process of IIM Kozhikode for its Post Graduate Program (PGP) is also a multi stage process. An index score will be computed with 50 per cent weight for the overall CAT 2010 score, 20 per cent weight for academic performance in secondary school, 20 per cent weight for higher secondary school and 10 per cent weight for the work experience of the candidate.

In the Stage I, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT scores.
In the Stage 2 of selection, the index score is calculated which totals to 50, on the basis of the CAT score, performance in secondary school, higher secondary school and work experience.

50 per cent weightage is given to the factors like Group Discussion and Social Skills, Personal Interview and Writing Task (Essay). The weightage given to these factors are as follows:

Index score obtained in Stage 2 of short listing for GD/PI - 50%
Group discussion and social skills - 15%
Personal interview - 25%
Writing task (Essay) - 10%
“In each category, the top ranking candidates based on the index score will be called for further process,” mentions IIM Kozhikode.

NOTE: These admissions guidelines released by IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode for Admissions 2011-13 are as on 21 December 2010.
