Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) has bagged the prestigious MMA award for Managerial Excellence in the Education Institutions category for the year 2016.
Madras Management Association has instituted the managerial excellence award with an intent to recognize excellence in managerial thinking, action and demonstrable results to companies and institutions. In order to constantly encourage and motivate superior leadership performance by the companies and institutions, MMA decided to institute the award in the year 2002.
The award was decided by an independent jury by evaluating various facets of managerial excellence in terms of Vision and goals, performance, contribution to society etc. The jury also evaluated how managers have directed the various disciplines of management in a focused manner to meet or exceed the set objectives.
The award was presented by Chief Guest Mr Jairam Ramesh MP, Rajya Sabha & Former Union Minister of Environment & Rural Development and Guest of Honour Mr. Harish Lakshman, Managing Director, Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd. and was received by Dr P K Biswas, Director and Prof R Sathyanarayanan, Chairman- External Relations on behalf of IFMR.
The award stands as a testimony to the evidence-based research contributions, policy advocacy and quality management education provided by IFMR since 1970. Dr P K Biswas, Director- IFMR made a presentation on various processes and best practices followed by IFMR that has helped the institution to achieve managerial excellence in its pursuit of providing high quality management education and research. He underscored the rich work done by IFMR’s unique research eco-system and also the faculty contributions in preparing young minds and experienced managers to become competent and socially responsible leaders of corporations and other institutions.
