IIM Indore to hold programme on Strategic Thinking for Business Managers

Indian Institute of Management, Indore will be conducting a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on " Strategic Thinking for Business Managers" during September 3-5, 2007 in Mumbai.

Prof. G R Chandrashekhar and Prof. Prashant Salwan are the programme directors. The programme is targeted at managers with leadership responsibilities, business heads and members of top management team.

According to information shared by IIM-I with MBAUniverse.com, “This programme will provide the participants with a conceptual frame to understand and develop the managing organic and non-organic growth of a firm, evaluating myriad of growth opportunities, developing strategic choices and implementing the chosen strategy in terms of direction setting, resource allocation, and organizational process adaptation amongst others.”

Broadly, the MDP will cover the topics like dealing with early organizational growth, Organic evolution of organizations, choice and role of non-organic evolution – product line diversification, mergers, internationalization and strategic alliances.

A variety of approaches shall be employed to deal with the issues like how to use diversity to create competitive advantage, how to combine a variety of resources to achieve competitive advantage, how to use adequacy of processes to achieve competitive advantage, understanding an organization's health using the balance score card approach, developing organizational resources and processes to execute a business strategy and crafting an international growth strategy.

According to IIM-I, “The faculty at IIM-I has combined their prior industry experience with latest research to evolve paradigms, framework and models to facilitate strategic decision-making. This programme on Strategic Thinking for Business Managers is a result of such process.”
