While the MBA aspirants are busy in preparations for CAT 2011, the IIMs are also now knee deep in preparing the launch pad for the mother of all entrance exams. IIM Calcutta, the institute which has taken the responsibility of conducting CAT 2011, is presently sending letter of renewal to all non-IIM B-schools that make use of CAT scores for selecting students.
MBAUniverse.com has a copy of the letter which IIM Calcutta has sent to the private B-schools of the country requesting them to renew their membership. In the letter, signed by Prof. Janakiraman Moorthy, CAT 2011 Convener and Chairman Admissions of IIM Calcutta, the various elements of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the IIMs and the non-IIM B-schools for use of CAT 2011 scores have been listed.
The MoU mentions that there is no revision in the Annual Charges of Rs. 2 lakhs for existing member B-schools, as well as no change in the processing fee of Rs. 200 per candidate for availing of CAT scores. The member B-schools were given the last date of June 30 to submit the required fees.
For the institutions that did not use CAT 2010 scores they need to pay Rs. 50,000 as Membership Fee, in addition to the Annual Fee and Processing fee in order to make use of CAT 2011 scores. This should be done by July 15, 2011. The required fees should be sent along with the duly filled MoU. The processing fee of Rs. 200 per candidate should reach IIM Calcutta on or before December 15, 2011.
The MoU also mentions the criteria, terms and conditions for the non-IIM institutes to avail of CAT 2011 scores. The B-schools should verify the eligibility of the candidates by verifying the mark sheets, degree certificates, final year certificates and certificates pertaining to SC/ST, NC-OBS and DA status. The Eligibility Criteria for the CAT takers is that the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50 per cent marks for the General category candidates.
One of the points in the MoU is: “The B-schools which would accept CAT 2011 scores should submit a copy of their accreditation certificate issued by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India or All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or other equivalent accreditation body.”
The MoU says: “The non IIM institutes should fix the last date for receiving their program applications from their candidates around the middle of November 2011 so that they get adequate time to process the applications and send the list to IIM Calcutta.”
The non IIM institutes should also ensure that the last date of acceptance of offer for their programs should not be before April 30, 2012. The B-schools should submit the list of candidates selected to their programs by the first week of June 2012.
Last year, 158 B-schools across India had accepted the CAT 2010 scores.
