It is just 60 days left for CAT 2011 to start. With the new pattern of CAT, you need to be extra careful and more aggressive about your preparation strategy. As the experts suggest, this is the right time to start taking full length mock tests. By this time you are supposed to get over with the basic preparation and know your strong and weak areas as well. So the mantra for the remaining two months is to brush up your weak areas, learn the important areas which you are yet to start and take regular mock tests. In this article of MBAUniverse.com, we will give you the tips on how to prepare in the remaining 60 days for CAT 2011.

Focus on the weak areas

This is the time when you are sure about your strengths and weaknesses. This is the right time to focus on your weak areas and make them stronger so that you don’t fall short on the requisite percentile. As Gejo Sreenivasan, "Till August end to September first week: Work on your weak areas so that you can clear the cut-offs and take adequate number of mock tests.”

Go to the further level of preparation

Apart from brushing up your weak areas, you should also focus on your areas in which you are strong and have average hold. Try and make these areas even stronger. After knowing the basics of the areas, go deeper into the topics. Solve enough questions and find out smarter strategies so that you can reach the answer faster and ensure accuracy. This is to ensure that you complete the section well on time and get the scope to revise the section within the 70 minutes that you will be getting.

Take full length mock tests & analyze

You should start taking full length mock tests at regular intervals and analyze them thoroughly. “Give mock tests at regular intervals. After every test, go through the analysis and try and figure out your strengths and weaknesses and try to work on them,” says Deepak Mehta, CAT 2010 100 percentiler and IIM Ahmadabad student.

Get accustomed to the new pattern

Since this is the first time you will encounter the new pattern, it is important for you to get accustomed to the new pattern and be prepared for the sequential timing of the sections. While opting for the mock test series, make sure that you choose the one which is giving you the feel of the new pattern. You can also make yourself accustomed to the pattern by taking the practice test at the CAT IIM website. “Start timing your problem solving and start putting a stress on accuracy,” suggests Kumar Anubhav, CAT 2010 99.15 percentiler and IIM Rohtak student.
