After its mid-term executive management programs, NIIT Imperia’s Centre for Advanced Learning has started offering specialized Management Development Programs (MDP) in collaboration with three IIMs, IMT Ghaziabad and industry experts.

The first MDP program began on September 3. Several MDPs in areas like finance, operations, quality management and HR practices are scheduled in September, October and November 2007.

NIIT Imperia says that these MDPs are created to meet specific “skill-gaps” amongst corporate executives. Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr Smarajit Dey, president, NIIT Ltd. said, “The long term executive programs are more comprehensive knowledge oriented. MDPs deal with specialized skills that executives desire.”

Some of the upcoming MDPs include ‘Fundamentals of Finance for Non Finance Executives’ by IIM Calcutta, ‘Strategic Brand Management’ & ‘Logistics & Supply Chain Management’ by IIM Indore and ‘Leadership & Team Building’ by IMT Ghaziabad. NIIT Imperia’s MDPs, with fees varying between Rs 9,000 and Rs. 15,000, are priced at par with IIMs and other leading B-schools.

NIIT Imperia is also looking at tying up with other reputed management institutes for rolling out more MDPs. When asked about what kind of management institutes NIIT Imperia would be interested in partnering, Dr Dey said, “Obviously we are looking at quality B-schools who have something unique to offer. The institute should also appreciate the role technology like ours can play in extending the reach of quality management education.”

NIIT Imperia was launched in September last year with academic support from three leading management institutes: IIM- Ahmedabad, IIM-Calcutta and IIM-Indore. It offers several executive management programs (ranging from 4 months to 1 year), targeted at working professionals.
