XLRI will organize GNOSIS 2012, its annual finance symposium, in Mumbai on November 16 with an aim to bring together the industry and academia on the same platform to interact on contemporary industry issues. The institute’s annual consulting conference, INSIGHT 2012, will also be held in Mumbai on November 15.

With the country witnessing “troubled times” in the financial sector resulting in the erosion of trust among stakeholders and people at large, GNOSIS 2012 aims to provide a platform to leading bankers and industrialists for expounding their views to the industry, investors and students on “Responsible Banking: Option or Imperative?, the theme of the event.

The topics to be discussed at the symposium include ‘Responsible banking ordinance - the only way out’, ‘The role of risk management in banking sector’, ‘Ethical standards for investing’, ‘Banks: unlikely sustainability champions’, ‘The fall of microfinance’, ‘The need for social banking’ and ‘Financial inclusion and financial literacy - need of the hour’.

The notable speakers who will address the meet are Mr Ajay Mahajan, CEO, FICC Capital, & former group president, Yes Bank; Mr Ajay Bagga, MD & head, private wealth management, Deutsche Bank; and Mr Sanjay Bhandarkar, MD, NM Rothschild. A host of other leading finance industry leaders will also share their views.

Just a day before GNOSIS 2012, XLRI’s annual consulting meet, INSIGHT 2012, will also be held in Mumbai. Organized by Consulting & Research Undertaking @ XLRI or CRUX, the conference will witness discussions by industry leaders and academicians on issues pertinent to businesses across geographies. The theme of INSIGHT 2012 is “Success in uncertain times -- the outlook of the corporate, government and the academia”.

“Through INSIGHT, XLRI salutes such mavericks who have taken the bull by its horns and brought stability and order in their businesses. Such times test the endurance of policy makers and academicians who have to balance sustainable growth vis-à-vis corporate growth. Every decision for these leaders is a trade-off that has to be carefully calibrated since it impacts daily lives of more than a billion people,” said Dr Sharad Sarin, professor of marketing at XLRI.

Prominent speakers at INSIGHT 2012 will be Mr Jagdish Capoor, former RBI deputy governor, Mr Shankar Narayanan, MD, Carlyle; Mr Sanjiv Bhasin, CEO of DBS; and Mr Prabhakar Jain, CEO of Pidilite.

GNOSIS is a platform created by The Finance Association at XLRI which aims to bring stalwarts of the finance industry, policy makers and members of the regulatory bodies on one stage to discuss their views on issues that are going to be the next big drivers in global financial landscapes.
