Once CAT 2012 results are declared, candidates should pull up their socks to determine the next course of actions. It is imperative to follow a structured and methodical approach to chart your way forward after CAT 2012 results.

In order to get admitted to your dream B schools, the following steps are needed; say various CAT toppers and experts. You must remind that CAT 2012 results will be accepted by 13 IIMs and 150 B schools across the country.

Let us take a look at the steps you should take once CAT results are declared.

Select the right B school: At this stage, one of the main focuses of MBA aspirants is to choose the right B School for application. B schools across India are conducting their admission process, but it's not possible to apply in all of them. Selecting the right B school is the most important step for pursuing the MBA dream. IIMs and other top 10 B schools like IIMs, XLRI, FMS, MDI, etc have CAT cut off of more than 95 percentile. The next top 20-25 B schools' cut offs range from 80 to 90 percentile. Beyond that, a percentile of 75 will suffice.

Some of the criteria for selection of the right B school are: compare B-schools on multiple rankings, cut-off, recognition of a B school, fee, placement, pay back, faculty, specialization, number of applications received and location.

Make a list of the B-schools you want to apply on the basis of your CAT 2012 percentile and check the details of the application process (CAT cut-offs of IIMs and some other B schools have been described in the later part of the article). You should have a look at B-schools that are conducting the admission process and apply. But make sure that you apply for a reputed B-school which will offer you quality MBA program and placement.

Focus more on GD, PI & essay writing: Now that CAT 2012 results are declared, you will start getting calls for GD, PI & essay writing from B schools you have applied for.
