NMIMS School of Business Management holds convocation for part time MBA

The School of Business Management (SBM), SVKM's NMIMS University, conducted its Convocation 2007 for its graduating batch of the MBA (3- Year, Part Time) on October 20.

Around 237 students graduated from the University from batch 2004-07. Mr T S Vijayan, Chairman, Life Insurance Corporation of India was the Chief Guest for this occasion.  

Delivering his Convocation Address, Mr Vijayan said, "India is today perched at a very exciting and challenging turning point. The country's economy is growing at plus 9% and still going stronger. We are emerging as one of the global leaders on the basis of our economic fundamentals and our skilled human resources. India needs idealists who can reach out to touch the horizon. India needs persevering young ones, to sift through the maze of knowledge and data and find out ideas to transform our environment to one that is conducive for human existence."  

Highlighting his 3 C framework for professional's life, Mr Vijayan said, "I have always considered Challenges, Commitment and Corporate Social Responsibility important for a professional. Challenges are the take off board for your ambitions and dreams. Commitment is the nucleus for any achievement, the fundamental element to your growth as a professional and as a human being. Corporate Social Responsibilty is very important in the today's corporate world. Give back to the society, some good that, you have got from the society."  

On the occasion the first batch of three PhD students were also conferred the Doctoral in Management Studies.  

NMIMS is consistently ranked one of the top B Schools in the country. NMIMS University which was granted the Deemed University status in 2003, has now been granted the Deemed University status under Section 3 of the UGC Act on a continuous basis. Dr NM Kondap, Vice Chancellor, has also been nominated as a Council member of NAAC, an accreditation body established by the UGC, as a representative of all Deemed Universities.
