We have got approval for increasing the number of seats for our Business Management programme from 120 to 180 from this academic year: Fr E Abraham, Director, XLRI Jamshedpur

XLRI Jamshedpur has increased its capacity of Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) by 60 seats from the academic year 2013-14. With these additional seats, the total number of seats for the programme has gone up to 180.

According to Fr E Abraham, Director, XLRI Jamshedpur, the seats have been increased for the current admission year after the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) approval for the same.  “We have got approval for increasing the number of seats for our Business Management programme from 120 to 180 from this academic year,” he said.

The top B-school offers on-campus 2-year full time management programmes in Business Management (BM) and Human Resources Management (HRM). The total number of seats was 120 each for both the programme till last academic year. With the additional 60 seats in BM, the total number of seats for these two coveted programmes goes up to 300 now.

According to the admission office in XLRI, the institute has announced a long waiting list of candidates to fill the additional seats.

“We have announced our final admission list that includes a long waiting list of around 200 candidates. As we were confident of getting AICTE approval for additional seats from this academic year itself, we had deliberately kept our options open,” Prof Vishwa Ballabh, admission chairperson, XLRI, said, “We have sufficient number of students interested for the programme.”

He also hoped that the institute will also get approval for 60 more seats for PGDHRM by the beginning of next academic year.

Prof Vishwa Ballabh said that the additional students in this academic year will easily be accommodated to the existing hostel facility available at the campus. “We have enough space and hostel facilities to support and accommodate the additional strength at the campus. Our faculty strength is also sufficient,” he said.
