“We will bring our advertisement for CAT 2013 notification in the month of July,” Dr Kapoor said, adding, CAT website will also be updated around the same time.
The Indian Institute of Management Indore, which is conducting CAT this year, had earlier announced the dates for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013, declaring the test will be held in a 20 days window between October 16 and November 11, 2013. Registration for the same will begin on July 29.
The announcement on April 30 came much in advance compared to the last year announcements for CAT. The dates for CAT 2013 were announced more than 160 days in advance which gives much more time for MBA aspirants to register and prepare for the same as compared to CAT 2012 when the test dates were announced just 84 days in advance.
According to Dr Kapoor, the information on the CAT 2013 dates will be updated on CAT website simultaneously with the formal notification of the same in July.
IIMs have a separate website for Common Admission Test (CAT), which carries all the authentic information on the Test. As on May 7, the CAT website - http://www.catiim.in/, was showing all the announcements and information on CAT 2012 only. The CAT 2013 Aspirants, however, may still find some generic information like IIM Selection process and eligibility criteria which usually remain the same for next year CAT, unless announced otherwise by the IIMs.
“We are doing all the background work before we notify CAT 2013 dates through advertisement in different media. Along with the notification in July, we will simultaneously update our CAT website with all the relevant information on CAT 2013 process,” Dr Kapoor said.
The CAT score is the gateway for admission to most coveted Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and other top B-schools in the country including FMS, JBIMS, IMT, MDI, SPJIMR etc. The number of CAT 2012 applicants was 2.14 lakh, an increase of 9,000 compared to CAT 2011 numbers.
