Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi has concluded final placement for its class of 2013 even as a total of 30 top companies including American Express, ANZ Bank, Citibank, CRISIL, Deloitte, GE, HP, IBM, Nomura, Panasonic, Reckitt Benckiser offered multiple jobs to many passing-out graduates at the campus.
 
While the average annual domestic package for the students was Rs 12.6 lakh, the highest annual package stood as high as Rs 18 lakh, the institute said.

A total of 30 companies participated in the placement process to offer 60 jobs to the batch of 49 students, it said. One student had opted out of the placement process.

According to the corporate relations team at DMS IIT Delhi, the good performance of 2013 class in their internships resulted in 32% of the batch getting PPOs and PPIs.

Some of the new companies who participated this year in the campus placement process include ANZ, Bosch, Crisil, E&Y, Trident, comviva, alfa laval, Mercedes Benz, Texas Instruments etc.

Function-wise distribution

While Consulting emerged favourite at the institute with 34 per cent of the batch opting for various profile in the function, Finance stood next with 19 per cent of the total students choosing different roles. Operations and IT/ITeS attracted 12 percent and 10 percent of the batch respectively.  Profiles in marketing were opted by 16 per cent of the batch and HR & General Management drew 9 per cent of the students. 

Consulting: Nearly 34% of the students, especially those with prior work experience, opted for consulting profiles in top companies like Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, IBM, Virtusa and Wipro. The recruiters offered varied profiles like Management Consulting, Customer Value Strategy, Operations Consulting and Technology Consulting to the students.

Finance: The Finance sector at DMS emerged as one of the favorites with 19% of the batch opting profiles such as Risk Management, Commercial Banking, Credit Risk Analysis. The key recruiters include American Express, ANZ Bank, Citibank, and Nomura.

Sales and Marketing: A good number of 8 students chose roles in sales and marketing offered by top companies like Idea Cellular, Mercedes Benz, Panasonic, RPG, Texas Instruments and Trident.

IT and ITeS: A number of IT companies HCL, HP, Infosys & Microsoft recruited from the campus, offering profiles across Analytics, ERP Consulting, IT Sales, Program Management and SAP Consulting

Operations: Operations area saw a number of recruiters offering challenging roles in Manufacturing, Supply chain management and Plant Management. Companies like Alfa Laval, Mitsui Chemicals, Panasonic, Reckitt Benckiser & Robert Bosch were the prominent recruiters in this domain.

General Management and HR: General Management and leadership profiles were offered by many companies. While GE offered its globally sought after Leadership Profile to six students, Ernst & Young recruited students for HR Consulting profile. IBM offered its much coveted People and Organization Consultant profile for the first time.

The institute believed that its academic strength brought in good number of recruiters that resulted in 100 per cent placements of the entire batch this year.

“DMS, IIT Delhi has lived up to its consistent record of facilitating the process of students getting a chance to work in the company of their choice and the specific profiles they want in the company,” said an official release from the institute.

“With a 98.85%ile CAT cutoff in its wings, DMS, IIT Delhi is ready to fly to infinity and beyond in the field of management education,” it added.
