4th Indian Management Conclave to seek 'solutions' for MBA crises

Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2013 will be held on Aug 2-3 in New Delhi. With Conclave theme 'Enhancing the value of Indian MBA', IMC 2013 seeks solutions to crises facing MBA Education in India.
The 4th IMC envisages bringing forth innovative practices, ideas and initiatives implemented by different B-schools in last 6 to 24 months, to create more value for their MBA.
Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2013, the much awaited India’s definitive thought-leadership platform for MBA educators, will be held on August 2-3 in New Delhi. With the Conclave theme ‘Enhancing the value of Indian MBA’, the 4th Edition of annual mega-event on MBA Education organised by MBAUniverse.com, seeks solutions to the crises facing Management Education in India.

Seeking Solutions

To identify solutions to various challenges, 4th Indian Management Conclave is starting a campaign for researching, disseminating and recognizing the best-practices, ideas and initiatives that are making positive impact in different B-schools.

“The Indian Management Conclave 2013 to be held on August 2-3 envisages bringing forth innovative practices, ideas and initiatives implemented by different B-schools in last 6 to 24 months, to create more value for their MBA Programmes,” said Amit Agnihotri, Convener, IMC & Chairman, MBAUniverse.com.

“This year IMC program agenda will be entirely different in terms of bringing new learning for MBA Educators and the management community,” he said, adding, “While our past Conclaves extensively highlighted the issues of miss-match in demand & supply of MBA seats, policy-conundrum, lack of employability of MBA graduates, and many other issues, IMC 2013 aims to find solutions to these crises.”

Finding B-school Initiatives with a spark

As part of the campaign, IMC is inviting B-schools & University MBA Departments to share their successful initiative on the sub-themes below:

Sub-Theme 1: Effective Demand Management: Developing successful engagement programs & finding niches

Sub-Theme 2: Improving Core Product: Revisiting the Program Architecture

Sub-Theme 3: Improving Core Product: Innovations in Curriculum Delivery

Sub-Theme 4: Effective Industry-Institute engagement

Churning out the gems:

An eminent IMC Advisory Board including Directors and VCs of Top B-schools will judge and select 2-3 noteworthy case studies in each theme. The selected case-studies will be highlighted & awarded at IMC 2013 and published.

The Jury members include Dr Debasish Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode; Fr. E. Abraham S.J., Director, XLRI, Jamshedpur; Dr Pritam Singh, DG, IMI & Former Director IIM Lucknow; Dr Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS University, Mumbai; and Dr Shesha Iyer, Director, S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai.

The B-schools can nominate their successful initiative which must be at least 6 month old, but not older than 24 months. There is no fee for submitting nominations. B-schools can click MBAUniverse.com/imc2013 to download the Nomination Form. Deadline for submitting nominations is June 10, 2013.

“We are very thankful to five very distinguished educators who have joined IMC Advisory Board, and have agreed to judge the Case studies to be submitted by different B-schools,” Agnihotri said.  

The Journey of Indian Management Conclave

The Indian Management Conclave offers a feast of knowledge and brainstorm on the best practices in Indian MBA education on thriving in tough environment; and an opportunity to rub shoulders with who’s who of management thought-leaders.

IMC 2012: The 3rd edition of Indian Management Conclave was held in New Delhi on August 9-10, 2012 on the theme – ‘Survival of the Fittest: Lessons from the Best’. The Conclave hosted Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Chairmen, Directors & Deans from leading Indian Universities and B-schools. The Conclave also hosted speakers & delegates from USA, UK, France, China, Singapore, Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other countries.

Key Speakers for IMC 2012 included Shri RC Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki India Limited; Dr SS Mantha, Chairman, AICTE; Mr Vijay Thadani, Co-founder & CEO, NIIT Ltd; Dr Elieen Peacock, Asia - Head, AACSB, Singapore; Mr TK Srirang, HR – Head, ICICI Bank; Dr MJ Xavier, Director, IIM Ranchi; Ms Savita Mahajan, CEO, ISB – Mohali and Mr Kunal Dureja, Country Head, Education, IBM.

IMC 2011: The second edition of the Conclave on the theme ‘Building a great B-school: What's the new DNA?’ held in August 2011 was inaugurated by Dr Srikant M Datar, Senior Associate Dean & Director of Research at Harvard Business School and author of ‘Rethinking the MBA’.

IMC 2010: The theme of the inaugural edition of IMC was ‘Re-thinking and Re-booting Indian Management Education’. Some of the eminent speakers who addressed the Indian Management Conclave 2010 included Dr Bakul Dholakia, Former Director, Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad and Padma Shri awardee; Mr. Manish Sabharwal, Chairman, TeamLease & Member of Prime Minister’s Skill Development Mission; Dr Debashish Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode; Dr N Ravichandran, Director, IIM Indore; Mr. Raman Roy, Serial Entrepreneur & ‘Father of Indian BPO Revolution; and Anjali Raina, Executive Director of Harvard Business School - Indian Research Center.
