Placement 2013: IIM Kashipur 1st batch average package @ Rs 10 lakh

IIM Kashipur has almost concluded its final placements for its first passing-out batch of PGP even as more than 30 top companies offered lucrative jobs to the budding managers at new IIM.
While the average annual package offered at IIM Kashipur was Rs 10 lakh, the highest package stood as high as Rs 16.25 lakh.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has almost concluded its final placements for its first passing-out batch of PGP even as more than 30 top companies including Hero MotoCorp, Tata Power ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, BPCL, IFFCO Group offered lucrative jobs to the budding managers of the new IIM.

In its interim final placement report, the institute said that the average annual package offered at the campus was Rs 10 lakh, and the highest package stood as high as Rs 16.25 lakh.

According to IIM Kashipur Placements Chairperson Dr. Dwarika Prasad Uniyal, a total of 31 top recruiters visited the campus and offered as many as 34 jobs to the students. However, 31 students have finally accepted the job offers. The placement at the new IIM campus also witnessed an International offer by IFFCO Group based out of Dubai.

Out of the batch strength of 37 students in the class of 2013, a total of 35 students had sought campus placement.

The interim report said that, the students opted for job locations in the major Metro cities with Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Kolkata attracting a total of 15, 7 and 4 students respectively.

Function-wise break up

Finance and Marketing emerged as the key function areas with more than 60 per cent of the batch going for different profiles in the two functional areas.

Finance: As much as 30 per cent of the batch opted for diverse roles in finance. Profiles offered in the area included Analyst, Business Development, Credit Risk Management, Derivative Trading, Human Resources, Derivative Valuation and M&E. Key recruiters in this area included Affluence Trading, GlobeOp, ICICI Bank, Ideal Insurance, Indus Valley Partners, NCDEX , Yes Bank and ICICI Prudential.

Sales and Marketing: One-third of the batch chose different roles in Sales and marketing functions. The profiles offered in the functional areas included in B2B Sales, Brand Management, Business Development, Retail Management and Product Management. Key recruiters in the domain were British Oxygen, BPCL, Century Ply, Eveready, Hero MotoCorp, IFFCO Dubai, Ruchi Soya, Tata Steel, Tide Water Co (Veedol) and Liqvid.

Strategy: This area was most sought after by the students with more than one year of work experience. Niche profiles such as Executive Assistant to CEO, Leadership Programs, and Strategy Development were some of the key profiles in this area. Recruiters in the domain were Nippon Electric Company, Ranbaxy Labs, Basix and TVS Logistics

Operation: As much as 8 per cent of the batch opted for profiles such as Key Account Manager and Strategic Sourcing in firms like Hero MotoCorp, KD Logistics and Tata Power.
