The nominations for Indian Management Conclave Awards (IMC) 2013 have drawn many unique ideas and practices being implemented in management education sectors by B-schools across the country.
A high-powered jury will select a set of entries from amongst the random pick here and many other nominations for Indian Management Conclave (IMC) Awards to be held on August 2-3 in New Delhi.

While MBA Education sector is going through a churn, B-schools are bringing in new ideas and practices not only to survive and sustain but also add value to their MBA programmes, making them more relevant in today’s fast changing business and economic environment.  

The nominations for Indian Management Conclave Awards (IMC) 2013 have drawn many unique ideas and practices being implemented in management education sectors by B-schools across the country. Many top B-schools including IIMs, NMIMS, SPJIMR, BIMTECH, TAPMI, IFIM, FMS-BHU and over 50 other Management institutes have nominated their respective initiative for the Award even as the entries from different B-schools continued pouring in for the ongoing nomination process for IMC Award 2013.

The 4th Indian Management Conclave (IMC) on the theme- ‘Enhancing the Value of MBA’, will showcase B-schools initiatives shared under different sub-themes. The nomination process is open and B-schools can nominate their unique ideas and initiatives for IMC Awards 2013. Some random pick from the entries in different categories brought us the following notable initiatives shared by different B-schools under the four award category.  While here we share the unique idea and initiative taken by different institutions and their results in brief, the actual nominations filled by the institutes carry details on ‘background, ‘introduction’, ‘challenges’, ‘execution’, and ‘results’ of the initiative.  A high-powered jury will select a set of entries from amongst the following and many other nominations for Indian Management Conclave (IMC) Awards to be held on August 2-3 in New Delhi.

Demand Management: Finding new segments & developing effective engagement programs
Mann Deshi Foundation based in Satara (Maharashtra) which works for upliftment of rural woman launched ‘Mann Desi MBA programme’ for rural business woman to strengthen and increase the number of woman-owned enterprises in India. Through its Business School, Mann Deshi has empowered over 71,583 women in rural Maharashtra of which over 42, 000 have established micro-enterprise to date.
Coimbatore based PSG Institute of Management leveraged social media to enhance brand visibility and brand building. This resulted in institute getting more queries on admission and increase curiosity in its programme features from the potential students. The new social media initiative also created a real-time response environment in the institute leading to more discussion and feedback on a peer to peer basis and group basis.

NMIMS School of Business Management launched a Modular credit based Executive MBA programme to facilitate working executive’s learning requirements.

In a bid to bring gender diversity in the campus, IIM Kashipur took a special initiative to encourage admissions of girl students. From a single girl student in its last batch, the number of girl students has increased to 25 per cent of the batch in 2013-15 batch.

Improving Core Product: Rethinking the Program Architecture
Chennai based Great Lakes Institute of Management began a Yoga-Karma Experiential Project where it asked students to become one with the communities and create followers through exerting a positive influence.  As a result communities gathered strength to work more vigorously for their progressive ideas and therefore worked with a renewed zeal. The exercise also brought in learning for the students where they looked beyond the obvious and saw the bigger picture of the society.

Faculty of Management Studies of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) launched a ‘social innovation leadership’ programme to create awareness among the management graduates to work for the society at large and develop leadership qualities for creating social innovation.

Improving Core Product: Innovations in Curriculum Delivery
Goa Institute of Management took an initiative to promote social responsibility among students through services to the less privileged communities. The initiative resulted in students getting better insight into the circumstances of the less privileged. The students also got motivated to work for them in future.

SIES College of Management Studies took a ‘skill development and creative thinking approach’ of delivery which led to 68 case studies taught to the students over 2-years.

MVGR College of Engineering developed ‘MBO @ Classroom’ initiative which included a set of procedures that began with goal setting and continued through performance review. The initiative resulted in a better team work and enhanced relationship as the entire team worked together from the beginning till the end of the application of MBO process.

Innovation in Industry-engagement
BIMTECH (Delhi-NCR) developed a programme on ‘sustainable development’ which included practical learning through projects, exercise and case studies. The programme helped develop institutes network with 80 new partners. In addition to this, all the students who were members of the programme received job offers with the industry partners engaged in the programme.

Chitkara Business School of Chitkara University tied up with leading industry players for different specialization of MBA programmes. The initiative led to 100 per cent placement at the campus and a high level of industry exposure to the students.

IFIM Bangalore devised an Internship programme to provide a transitioning bridge between theory and practice for the students. The initiative helped students to choose their career of choice and also increased their possibility of getting job offers.

AICTE backs IMC Awards 2013:
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced its support to Indian Management Conclave 2013, as a platform for enhancing quality of Indian MBA education. AICTE Chairman Dr SS Mantha, who will be delivering keynote address at Indian Management Conclave (IMC) Conference, has also asked “all AICTE approved institutions to participate in the event and also Indian Management Conclave programme.”

All B schools & University MBA Departments have been invited to share their successful initiative. The initiative must be at least 6 month old, but not older than 24 months. There is no fee for submitting nominations. B-schools can nominate their initiatives in multiple categories.

An eminent jury will select a set of nominations which will be awarded at Indian Management Conclave Awards 2013 on August 2-3 in New Delhi.

4th Indian Management Conclave:
The 4th Indian Management Conclave to be held on August 2-3 in New Delhi will have two key components IMC Conference & IMC Awards.

IMC Conference 2013:
The 2-day IMC Conference, to be held on August 2 & 3, will consist of Keynotes by Management thought-leaders, Panel discussions, Case-study presentations by IMC Award Winners, and Workshops by partners like AACSB International, EFMD/EQUIS, Harvard Business Publishing amongst others.

Confirmed keynote speakers include Mr Vineet Nayar, Vice Chairman, HCL; Dr SS Mantha, Chairman, AICTE; Dr Michael Luger, Director, Manchester Business School, UK; Dr Zhou Lin, Dean, ACEM, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai.

IMC Awards 2013:
Starting this year, IMC Awards will be presented to B-schools & Universities for their cutting edge case-studies/initiatives on IMC themes. The IMC Awards have evoked a very positive response from all stakeholders. IMC Jury Members include Dr Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode; Dr. Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow; Fr. E.
