IIM-A inaugurates PGP's golden jubilee batch, PGP-ABM and FPM batches

The academic year 2013-14 began at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) with the inauguration of IIMA’s Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), the Golden Jubilee (50th) batch of IIMA’s flagship programme, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), and the 14th batch of IIMA’s Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management (PGP-ABM).

According to the institute, “On the inaugural day, as many as 364 students, 78 of them female, registered for the PGP; 45 students registered for PGP-ABM out of whom 11 are females. The FPM saw 17 students registered on the inaugural day.”
 
Dr Ajay Pandey, Dean and Director In-charge, IIM-A, inaugurated the new academic year and welcomed the new students at the campus on June 24, 2013. He also delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Dr Neharika Vohra, Chairperson, FPM, urged the FPM students to use their time at IIMA to become producers of knowledge. Dr Shailesh Gandhi, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) welcomed the 50th batch of the PGP and shared details of how the PGP had grown from 48 students, with only one female student, in the first batch (1964-66 batch), to its current size. 
 
Speaking to the new students, Dr Vijay Paul Sharma, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management said that the PGP-ABM programme is the Institute’s commitment to the agri-business sector, which continues to play an important socio-economic role in our society.
