AICTE will conduct first CMAT for admission year 2014-15 in a five days window beginning September 26, 2013. The registration for first CMAT of the season begins on July 3, 2013 and the last date for the same is August 21, 2013, AICTE said in a notification.
From this testing season, AICTE has added test venues in five foreign countries including Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Kabul (Afghanistan), Kathmandu (Nepal), Lagos (Nigeria), and Dubai (UAE).
“AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT in Foreign Countries for facilitating eligible NRIs/PIOs and foreign nationals to appear in CMAT for seeking admission in institutions in India,” the AICTE notification read. The September CMAT will be conducted at 62 test venues across India.
AICTE conducts National level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) twice a year for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE. According to AICTE, the candidates will be given two opportunities to appear in CMAT; first in September, 2013 and Second in February, 2014.
The better of two scores will be used for admission for 2014-15.

Candidates can register for the exam on AICTE-CMAT website - www.aicte-cmat.in. Candidates will have to choose three dates and three cities in order of preference. According to AICTE, “Allotment will be based on the first come first served basis. The actual allotment, however, will be subject to availability of slots in a particular city.”
Eligibility & Fee
Candidates applying for the CMAT exam should be graduates in any discipline. Final year graduation students can also apply. The application fee is Rs 1,200 for general category candidates and Rs 600 for SC, ST and PD candidates. For candidates appearing in foreign countries, the fee for the test is $ 125+ Bank charges as applicable.
There are two methods of payment. It can be either made online through net banking, credit or debit cards or by cash payment at any branch of State Bank of India.
The result will be declared on October 20, 2013. Score cards can be printed from October 20 2013.
Pattern of the test
CMAT is a three-hour test. The sections are: quantitative techniques & data interpretation, logical reasoning, language comprehension and general awareness. The total number of questions is 100, with 25 questions in each section. There is negative marking of one mark and each correct answer will fetch four marks. The overall difficulty level of the exam is easy to moderate.
Admission process
The detailed merit list is provided to the respective state governments for allotting students through central counselling. In case there is no central counselling, scores awarded to the candidates can be used for admission in the AICTE-approved institutes or university departments.
