IIM Calcutta team wins EXL case study contest 2013

An IIM Calcutta team has won second edition of EXL Acumen, an annual case study contest for students pursuing post-graduate programs at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
The case study competition organized by leading business process solutions company EXL required participants to analyze a contemporary business situation, identify the problem and create compelling and realistic business solutions.

An IIM Calcutta team has won second edition of EXL Acumen, an annual case study contest for students pursuing post-graduate programs at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The contestants comprised teams from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore also.

The case study competition organized by leading business process solutions company EXL required participants to analyze a contemporary business situation, identify the problem and create compelling and realistic business solutions. The contest, launched in August 2013, received participation from 156 teams, each team comprising a maximum of three members, from the participating institutes. The top two teams from each campus advanced to the National Round.  This year, the contest was extended to IIM Bangalore, in addition to IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta which participated in the first edition of the contest.

Team Joka Excel from IIM Kolkata represented by Bibhuti Anand, Kritika Garg and Suman emerged as the national winners of EXL Acumen 2013. Hemant Mundra, Ankit Garg, Hemant Balyan, who represented Team Thunder Down Under from IIM Ahmedabad, were declared runners-up. The winning teams were awarded with certificate and prizes. According to the organizers, all national finalists have been offered pre-placement interview offers (PPIs) at EXL.

Congratulating the winners and participants of the contest, Pavan Bagai, President and Chief Operating Officer, EXL, said, “I am excited to share the interest and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants at the grand finale of EXL’s case study contest for IIMs. The innovative solutions presented at the finals bear a testament to the fact that the case was able to throw a significant challenge to the participants and showcase their solid business acumen.”

The finals of the contest were held at one of EXL’s offices in Noida, India on September 17, 2013. The teams made their final presentation to a panel of judges comprising members from the global leadership team at EXL.
