IMI New Delhi student bags Rs 29 lakh package

PGDM student of International Management Institute (IMI), Delhi bagged a package of Rs. 29 lakh from an International Retail giant in the sales and marketing profile in the final placement of 2013.
The economic slowdown seems to have had an impact even on placements but overall we have seen good packages offered from the recruiters

Beating the economic slowdown, an International Management Institute (IMI) student has bagged a whopping package of Rs. 29 Lacs from an International Retail giant in the sales and marketing profile. The average package for the PGDM batch, passing in summer of 2013, stood at Rs. 9.80 Lacs.

The highest salary offered for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-HR) at IMI stood at Rs. 11.75 lacs while the average package for this stream is Rs. 9 lacs. The average packages for 2013 are better than 2012 packages.

According to IMI, for PGDM placements, Consulting emerged as the most preferred domain on campus with 32% of the batch opting for a career in Consulting. The recruiters from this sector were Amrop International, Axis Risk Consulting, Barclays Shared Services, Deloitte & Touche Assurance, Ernst & Young GSS, EXL Services and KPMG. The next preferred domain was BFSI in which 27% of the batch took challenging roles in companies such as Axis Bank Ltd, Bloomberg L.P., CRISIL, HDFC Bank Ltd., ICICI Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Royal Bank of Scotland, Tata Capital and HSBC. Profiles offered included Corporate Finance, Insurance and Credit Analyst. Sales & Marketing was the next preferred domain with 26% of the batch opting for it. The recruiters in this domain were Asian Paints, Adidas, Absolutdata, Friends Steel, Panasonic India, ACC, IMRB International, ITC Welcomgroup, Bajaj Electricals, DCM Shriram Consolidated, Jumbo Electronics, Trident Group and Resultrix Media. 9% of the batch chose to enter into IT/ITEs domain. Recruiters like Wipro and Infosys Technologies offered roles in this domain. 

Commenting on the development, Dr Pritam singh, Director General, IMI said, “The economic slowdown seems to have had an impact, but overall we have seen good packages offered from the recruiters. We have seen an increase in the average package from previous year and therefore this is a positive indication."

International Management Institute, New Delhi was established in 1981 in collaboration with IMI Geneva (now IMD, Lausanne). Besides a regular post-graduate two-year diploma programme in Business Management (PGDM) and Human Resource Management (PGDM-HR), the institute also conducts a 15- month Executive Post Graduate Diploma programme in Management (Executive PGDM) and a three-year PGDM (Part-Time) programme for working executives. Apart from the parent institute in Delhi, it has campuses in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata too.
