In its ongoing series to make the B school aspirants familiar with other prestigious management exams in the wake of CAT 2013 nearing its end, MBAUniverse.com comes up with the key inputs about Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), 2013, the MBA entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University for the MBA programs in 13 B-schools under the university. In the line of various MBA entrance exams, SNAP is also one of the popular exams among MBA aspirants. The test is conducted in 30 cities all over India.

Until last year a candidate used to register for SNAP Test & then register with the institutes offering his choice of program by paying separate institution registration fees. If shortlisted, he would then attend the Group Exercise & Personal Interaction (GE&PI) process conducted by each of these institutes. But this year Symbiosis International University has revamped admission process by introducing single registration and single PI-WAT for admission to all its constituent B-schools for academic session 2014-16.  The last date to register for the test is November 22, 2013.  The test will be conducted on December 15, 2013 and the results will be out on January 09, 2014. The proposed date for the final merit list for all the programmes of the institute is February 28, 2014. 

Talking to MBAUniverse.com about the changes in the admission process Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, said that, “We have brought the complete admission process under one umbrella from this year. The process has been completely revamped. A simplified, streamlined process which is candidate friendly, convenient, advantageous and economical to a candidate has been brought in for the coming Academic session.”

SNAP 2013 Paper Pattern
SNAP 2013 Paper Pattern consists of an objective type multiple choice tests carrying total marks of 180. The total time given for the test is 120 minutes. There are no descriptive type questions. SNAP 2013 Paper Pattern consists of following sections.

1. General English:  Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability. This section carries 40 marks.

2. Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency carrying 40 marks.

3. General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario carrying 40 marks.

4. Analytical & Logical Reasoning Logical Reasoning. This section carries 60 marks.

SNAP 2013 Paper Pattern also consists of negative marking. Each wrong answer will attract 25% negative marks.

Since 2007, candidates aspiring to join MBA programs offered by constituent units of Symbiosis International University have had to take the common, mandatory Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test. Symbiosis International University has revamped their SNAP 2013 Exam pattern and have brought the complete admission process under one umbrella to make it convenient, advantageous and economical to a candidate for the Academic Year 2014-15. Symbiosis International University will conduct the complete process centrally under its aegis.

The salient features of the SNAP 2013 Exam pattern and application process are as following:

•  Single registration process for all MBA programs at all institutes of SIU.

•  Reduced registration fees for multiple programs.

• Single Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT) process for all MBA programs, at multiple locations    (Pune, NOIDA and Bengaluru campuses of SIU)

•  SNAP Test Score + Academic Profile Score will form the basis for short listing candidates for Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT).

•  Academic Profile Score will be computed on the basis of weights assigned to academic performance in 10th Std.,12th Std. and Graduation.

•  Group Exercise (GE) process has been eliminated.

As per the eligibility criteria graduates in any discipline from Statutory University with minimum of 50% marks for all the Master of Business Administration Programme, except for the Programmes, which requires graduate with specific subject specializations can apply for the test.  

 

SNAP 2013 Preparation tips

 

According to Prof. S.K. Agarwal, Verbal expert with MBAUniverse.com, ‘All the four sections in SNAP are equally important as you need to remain in merit. If you are serious enough and have prepared well for CAT and XAT you must continue in the same spirit for SNAP 2013 Preparation. Most of the questions are similar and based on the same concepts of English language, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning as appear in both these examinations; the need is to improve your attempts in limited time.  Time management is another important part in SNAP 2013 Preparation to deliver better in the examination. Avoid wrong and doubtful answer options as there is a penalty provision.'

SNAP 2013 Result
SNAP 2013 result is scheduled to be out on 9th January 2014 at 12:00 pm. The first list of SNAP 2013 result will contain the shortlist candidates name for Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT).
