Soon after CAT was out of the bag, India’s top-tier management entrance institutes like IMS Learnings, Career Launcher, TIME and Career Forum got busy in making predictions on what cutoffs are likely to get you a call from the IIMs.

MBAUniverse.com spoke to various institutes and presents a summary of their predictions. (See table of CAT 07 Cutoffs: Different views below)

From the table below, you make out that Career Forum is most optimistic about CAT 07 while TIME believes that the paper was not as easy as some believe. Career Forum says that the overall cutoff will be 123+, while TIME says that overall cutoff required to get an IIM call is likely to be in the range of 88-92 marks. IMS and CL predictions are almost similar.

From the section-wise cutoffs projected by various institutes, it is clear that they believe that Logical reasoning and Data Interpretation section is the easiest and hence higher cut-off scores predicted. All four institutes project the cutoffs to be in the range of 30-35.

Quantitative section is the toughest section in CAT 2007, according to all institutes. As the comparison table makes it clear, quant scores will be difference between those who make it and the rest. IMS leading believes that 25-28 marks will see one thru. Career Launcher and TIME have similar opinion.

What is interesting to note is the divergent view on Verbal ability section. While Career Launcher believes it’s a tough nut to crack, Career Forum says it’s an easy one.
