Summer Placements: FMS grads cherry pick companies, projects

With over 70 leading companies visiting the FMS Delhi campus, FMS students were spoilt for choice. Apart from regulars like HUL, TAS, P&G, HSBC and Citibank, there were many new additions to the recruiters list including IKEA, BNP Paribas and Lufthansa.

FMS informs that highlight of summer placements was a 400% increase in the number of international offers made by companies.

The financial sector continues to lure students in large numbers. 17% of the batch at FMS opted for profiles with leading banks. Premier Banks like BNP Paribas, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Citibank, ABN Amro, Bank of America, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, American Express and IndusInd Bank offered summer internships to FMS grads. Apart from them, this sector also saw participation from investment banking firms like Langham Capital, Singhi Advisors and Tata Capital, fund managers like Zeus Fund and TSI Ventures and real estate developers like CapitaLands which offered international profiles.

Niche profiles were offered by venture capital funds like IDG Ventures, private equity firms like IDFC and financial research firms like ICRA and Dun and Bradstreet. Financial management programs by GE FMP and GE Commercial and analytics profiles by EXL Services and Dell were offered to the students.

FMCG majors like HUL, P&G, Coca Cola and SAB Miller continued the tradition of offering finance profiles on campus in addition to the existing Sales and Marketing profiles. Nearly 29% of the batch was offered roles in Corporate Finance.

In the marketing domain, leading companies like HUL, P&G, Cadburys, ITC, Colgate Palmolive, GSK, Britannia, Pepsi, Coca Cola, SAB Miller, Reckitt Benckiser, Dabur, Nestle, Reebok, Heinz, Castrol and Tata Motors participated in summer placements at FMS. HUL further offered exclusive international Marketing and finance postings across Netherlands and South East Asia, informs FMS. 16% of the batch decided to join the FMCG companies for their summer internships.

FMS also saw the participation of many leading consulting firms like Accenture, KPMG (India and Middle East) and Mercer. Many other companies like TAS, Sharaf Group, Frost and Sullivan, RPG Group and industrial group DCM Shriram (DSCL) offered profiles in consulting and general management. Vodafone, IBM, Yahoo, Essar and Lufthansa also offered roles in strategy and management consulting. 18% of the batch opted for a variety of roles in this sector.

The IT sector saw participation from heavyweights like Microsoft, Yahoo, IBM, SAP-VE, Cognizant, Mindtree Consulting and Wipro. GE also offered its reputed Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP) and picked up 2 students. Approximately, 10% of the batch opted for IT profile for their summers.

Noting the trend of rising importance of job profiles, FMS says, "Candidates showed a clear inclination for choosing challenging profiles over lucrative stipends offered by companies."
