Psychometric test requires a candidate to fill in questionnaires in 20-25 minutes

Final admission round at International Management Institute – IMI Delhi has begun on February 20, 2014 at Delhi campus. IMI Delhi, a highly ranked B school, unlike other institutes will put the candidates to appear for Psychometric and simulation tests before the personal interview. The process of short listing the candidates in final admission round will continue till March 30, 2014.

IMI Delhi: Know about the Psychometric Test

Psychometric test requires a candidate to fill in questionnaires in 20-25 minutes. Candidates may find various types of such tests like Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Caliper and California Critical Thinking Tests. They are considered good enough and IMI Delhi used them last year also. The test is designed to assess the EQ (Emotional quotient) of the shortlisted candidates.

Know about the Simulation test

Simulation Test will follow the Psychometric Test at IMI Delhi.  This test aims to assess the analytical understanding and setting of target by the MBA aspirants. For example, throwing and putting a ball from a distance by the candidates may be one such simulation test. Higher the target with higher difficulty level; their time and difficulty management to achieve the target in the short time will help to assess their analytical understanding.

How do these tests help?

While CAT/GMAT test the written and calculation intelligence of MBA applicants where students with mathematics or technical background do better and it is thought that students with commerce or arts background have low IQ.  These tests provide equal level playing field to all the candidates irrespective of their academic background. Therefore IQ is matched with Emotional Quotient (EQ) in these tests. Leadership qualities are not the prerogative of the candidates from a particular academic background. A candidate might score high in written examination due to one or other reason. But these tests will evaluate well the other qualities of the candidates from diverse backgrounds.

Weightage of Psychometric and Simulation Tests at IMI Delhi

The tests will have 35 weightage in the final admission round to IMI Delhi. There will also be weightage for past academic record. Candidates with low percentile in CAT can out do the high percentiler in these tests.

PI will follow the tests

After the newly introduced process of Psychometric and Simulations tests with brief discussion round, candidates will have to communicate well in PI round which will be held on the same day. The strategy should be to prepare well on academics and work experience apart from commonly asked questions like tell us about family; why do you want to pursue MBA; why should you be offered admission and the like.
