MBAUniverse.com held its Round-Table series in Chennai on February 27. The program was attended by 100+ Directors & Deans from 50 leading B-schools and Universities in South India.
Yes, there is turbulence in our management education, but the only solution is to innovate and offer quality management education to our students.

How can we re-invigorating the 300+ PGDM programs in India? Much like the US MBA education scenario, how can MBA Programs in 600+ Private Universities excel? Where lies the future growth of Indian MBA education? To find solution to these challenges, MBAUniverse.com held its Round-Table series in Chennai on February 27. The program was attended by 100+ Directors & Deans from 50 leading B-schools and Universities in South India.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr SS Mantha, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), said, “Yes, there is turbulence in our management education, but the only solution is to innovate and offer quality management education to our students. Quality is key to surviving the chaos.”

Addressing the meet, Mr Narayanan Ramaswamy, national leader for education sector at KPMG India, said, “Management education is perhaps the only vertical in Indian Higher Education that offers great scope for innovations. After all, industry really doesn’t care for government accreditations. They have their own benchmarks and expectations. So management schools have ample of opportunities to innovate.” 

Offering the global perspective, Mr David Wan, President & CEO of Harvard Business Publishing, said, "MBA education is going through changes across the globe, with newer programs like specialized MBAs and specialized Masters in Science hurting enrollments in the traditional MBA in several schools. Technologies like MOOCs and its variants are creating opportunities for some schools, while potentially disrupting the traditional space. Harvard Business School continues to innovate to increase field based learning experiences in the core MBA program, and also to extend its impact in the online world through the HBx range of offerings in future. In this competitive and fast changing space, it s important that each B-school finds their niche and excels in it."”

Drawing on his experiences at IIM Ranchi, Dr MJ Xavier, Executive Director, VIT University, said, “At IIM Ranchi, we took a new path by innovating and creating next-practices. Today, we need to leverage education technology to innovate and reach out to the underserved markets in MBA education, rather than create commodity MBAs.”
