Mumbai Education Trust (MET) is one of the preferred B schools which MMS/PGDM aspirants may choose
"The interim fee fixed by Fee Fixation Committee (S.S.S.) set up by Govt. Of Maharashtra is Rs.1, 62,500/- per year"

With the declaration of MAHCET 2014 results, search for the right B school has begun and the candidates due to lack of well guided information about the expected cut offs,  USPs, fee structure and Return on Investment in the various institutes find it difficult to choose the one among the many available options. Mumbai Education Trust (MET) is one of the preferred B schools which MMS/PGDM aspirants of Maharashtra domicile as well as All India candidates hailing from outside Maharashtra may choose provided they have scored a good percentile.

MET Institute of Management (MET IOM) is one of the premier B schools in Mumbai.  The institute is run by Mumbai Education Trust which runs number of professional institutes and is AICTE approved as well as affiliated to Mumbai University.

Full time programmes at MET IOM
MET IOM offers two years full time MMS and PGDM programmes with specialization in Marketing, Finance, HR, operations & System.  The flagship programme at MET is MMS (Master in Management Studies) affiliated to University of Mumbai. Other programmes like PGDM (e-business), eMBA with specialization in Telecom, Travel & Tourism, Hospital, Corporate & Business Law, Finance (BFSI) are also conducted in other institutes at Mumbai Campus.

Admission process and intake
Since MMS is a Mumbai University programme the short listing of the candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in any of the entrance tests like CAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA/MAT MAHCET.  No separate application is needed nor individual cutoff will be applied by MET IOM for admission to MMS programme.

There will be a Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra, to be conducted from May 12, 2014.  Candidates who registered themselves for MAHCET 2014 and have taken any of the above tests will be allotted institutes on the basis of CAP. If you are lucky enough you could get MET IOM.

However, for various PGDM/MBA programmes candidates can apply online to the institute to secure their admission.

Intake for MMS 2014-16 batch is 181 students; for PGDM (e-business) is 120; for eMBA it is 280 (all streams taken together)

Expected Cut off for short listing
The cut off in past remained fairly high. It could have been due to higher number of candidates and a little low difficulty level.  According to MET IOM “Previous cut offs in the open merit quota was 242 - 173 as per CMAT score in 2013. The cut offs in the open merit quota was 132-113 when the MAH-CET was in force in 2012.”  Candidates can expect the cut off around 100+ in view of the scoring pattern in MAHCET 2014 and 165+ in CMAT Feb 2014 where average score dipped substantially.

Admission to PGDM is open; can apply
Admission to PGDM and eMBA with 400 seats is open and the aspirants can apply online to the institute with their entrance test scores.

Fee at MET IOM
The fee component at MET may not create a big hole in your pocket since it is decided by Shikshan Shulka Samiti (SSS) of Government of Maharashtra. According to MET IOM ‘The interim fee fixed by Fee Fixation Committee  (S.S.S.) set up by Govt. Of Maharashtra is Rs.1,62,500/- per year for the 2014-16 batch for  MMS.  This interim fee is subject to change.’ In comparison to various B schools, the fee structure appears low at the institute.
