Q. What was the CAT 2013 prep strategy?

Ans. I started my CAT 2013 preparation keeping in mind that accuracy is a key factor. As I started giving many mocks, I was able to realize that RCs were proving to be my weak-point. I analyzed my mocks till then and found out that it was due to more number of attempts and low accuracy. Quickly, I figured it out. As for QA and LR, I never had any problem.

Q. What was the strategy in testing room to attempt the question from different sections: Quantitative Ability & DI, Verbal Ability & LR?

Ans. During the test, in the first 5 minutes I identified all the easy questions in QADI and solved them in the initial 40 minutes. In the last 30 minutes, I tried to identify if any time taking but solvable question was there and solved those questions.

Coming to the second section, I decided to attempt all the LR questions first. Luckily, since I practiced a lot, I was able to solve all the LR questions very fast. This gave me a lot of time to solve the VA part. From my experience in the mocks, I decided to solve only the questions which I was 100% sure of and where I could maintain a good accuracy. This strategy worked as I scored OA-99.73 QADI-99.79 VALR-96.32.

Q. Apart from CAT which exams did you appear? How did you prepare for them after CAT? What score did you get?

Ans. Apart from CAT, I wrote NMAT, IIFT, SNAP and XAT. For NMAT, I decided to go on a rapid solving spree since there is no negative marking. For IIFT and SNAP, I maintained a 100% accuracy in the LR section and chose the questions in the other sections wisely and finally for XAT, I was wary of the decision making section and focused mainly on that. My scores in these exams are XAT-99.38 percentile, NMAT-230 score (99.81 percentile), IIFT-58.74 score and SNAP-99.73 percentile. Read More..
